(1) I give life: my water is fresh water, so everybody can drink it and use it for farming and washing. (2) Nothing can get in my way. (3) Nobody wants to live in such difficult conditions, ... Then have students answer the following questions. What are these words in bold When do we use them Do you know any other indefinite pronouns Can you give some examples 2 Have students read the sentences in the table on page 73 and pay attention to the use of indefinite pronouns. Then have students circle all the indefinite pronouns in the sentences. 3 Have students think about the differences between somebody/someone and something, anybody/anyone and anything, everybody/everyone and everything, and nobody/no one and nothing. Then have them finish “Work out the rule!” on page 73. 4 Have students think about the differences between somebody/someone/something and anybody/anyone/anything. Then have them answer the following questions. When should we use indefinite pronouns beginning with some- When should we use indefinite pronouns beginning with any- Then have students decide whether the following three sentences are correct or not and say why. (1) Can you tell me something about it (2) Would you like something to drink (3) Why don’t you ask someone for help Then have students read the tip on page 73. 5 Have students go through “Grammar check” on page 146. Give explanations if necessary. Step 2 Practice 1 Have students practise using indefinite pronouns. Then have students pay attention to the words in brackets in each sentence in the table on page 74 and answer the following questions. (1) What’s the difference between “What a high mountain!” and “What a high mountain it is!” (2) When can we leave out the subject and verb 3 Have students go through “Grammar check” on page 147.
