While some would turn to teachers for help in order to get better grades, many universities encourage their students to build study groups and make good use of them.
As the saying goes, “Two heads are better than one.” That’s the simple idea behind study groups. By joining a study group, students can benefit(受益) from other excellent students. They get to pick each other’s brains and improve their own understanding of different problems. Moreover, study groups can create the nervous environment. Many people think it’s helpful to study in it. Because many students are more willing to work harder along with other partners. When they are alone, they become much lazier.
Study groups work best when they are small. A group with four or five students is just OK. And it’s necessary to make sure everyone has the same goal. Some study groups also like to give members certain roles. First they need an organizer. He or she usually gets group members to agree to a common goal and a convenient(方便的) time and place. They also need a group member to search for information. What he or she does is to find out where the information comes from. And a gatekeeper tries to make sure that all group members are participating(参加).
