第1课时 Section A(1a-Pronunciation)
Learn to talk about how to spend holidays.
1.Master the main idea of the listening text.
2.Master some key words,phrases and sentences in this period.
3.Master the pronunciation of the letters “a”“e”“i”“y” and letter groups “ee”“ea”.
1.Talk about holiday activities and experiences.
2.Help the students to improve their listening ability.
Pictures,a tape recorder,PowerPoint and multimedia.
Step 1 Lead-in
Greet students in English.The teacher shows some pictures about the summer holiday and introduce to them.Then ask students to talk about where they went in their summer holiday.Then lead in the topic:How do people spend their holidays?
Step 2 Cooperative inquiry
1.Help students brainstorm activities they did on summer vacation.The teacher can give students some inspirations,such as “visited museums”“went to a summer camp”“went fishing”“visited families” and so on.
2.Show the activities in 1a and teach the new words:ancient,camp.Lead students to read them aloud and ask them to tick the activities they did during the summer holiday.Add more together.
3.(1)Play the tape for the first time.Let students listen to the conversations and circle the holiday activities they hear in 1a.Check the answers together.
(2)Show the two pictures in 1c.Lead students to describe the pictures.Then play the tape for the second time.Let students listen again and complete the two summaries.Check the answers with the class and learn the new words.
(3) Play the tape again and ask students to repeat and imitate the intonation.
4.Pair work:Let students talk about Yaming’s and Emma’s holidays in pairs.Use the sentence structures in 1d:
A:Where did Yaming/Emma go on holiday/vacation?
B:He/She went to…
A:Did he/she do anything interesting?
B:Yes,he/she…
After a few minutes,invite some pairs to share in front of the class.
5.Present the word list in activity 1.Lead students to read the words and find out the pronunciation of the letters and letter groups in each word.Then the teacher makes a summary:e/i /,ee/i /,ea/i /,i/I/,y/i/,e/e/,ea/e/,a/ /.After that,play the tape and let students listen and repeat the words.Add one more word to each group.Finally,check the answers together.
6.Let students read the sentences in activity 2.Play the tape and let the students listen and repeat.Remind them to notice the rhythm.
Step 3 Homework

Greet the class as usual.Show some pictures and ask students to talk about what they did on their last vacations using the simple past tense.
Step 2 Cooperative inquiry
1.Ask students some questions,such as:

Did you eat anything special?
2.(1)Play the tape for the first time.Let students listen to the conversation and choose the correct sentences to complete it.Then check the answers.
(2)Show the table in 2b.Ask students to read the conversation and complete the table.Then invite one student to share the answers.
(3)Lead students to read the conversation again and learn the new words and phrases.Then help students complete the summary of the conversation in 2c.Check the answers together.
(4)Play the tape for the second time.Let students listen to the conversation again,and repeat and imitate the intonation.
3.Role-play:Ask the students to role-play the conversation in groups.Invite some students to act out the conversation in front of the class.
4.Ask students how they feel about their holidays.Present the words in 2e.Let students tick the words that describe their last summer holiday experience.
5.Pair work:Ask some students to share their summer holiday experiences.Then ask students to share their summer holiday experience with a partner.They can use the sentence structures in 2f.After that,invite some pairs to share in front of the class.
6.Present the sentences in 3a and let students read the sentences and notice the indefinite pronouns in bold.Ask them to discuss when they use these pronouns in pairs.Then the teacher summarizes the usage of the indefinite pronouns.
7.Show the conversation in 3b.Let students complete the conversation with the correct indefinite pronouns.Check the answers together.
8.Lead students to complete the passage with the correct indefinite pronouns in 3c.Check the answers with the class.

Step 1 Lead-in
Ask students to talk about where they went on vacation and what they did.Students are encouraged to give different answers.Ask students more questions about their vacations,for example:
Did you do anything special/interesting?
Did you meet anyone special/interesting?
Did you taste anything delicious?
Then ask students what they can learn from the vacations.Lead in the topic:What can we learn from holiday experiences?
Step 2 Cooperative inquiry
1.Show the photos in 1a.Ask students which country it is and the teacher introduces them briefly and teaches the new word:square.Then ask them if they would like to visit it.
2.(1)Present Vincent’s diary entries about his holiday in 1b and let students predict what the diary entries are about.
(2)Ask students to read the diary entries quickly and answer the questions:
What places did Vincent visit?
How did he feel during the trip?
Then invite two students to answer the questions.
(3)Show the timeline in 1c.Let students read the diary entries again and complete the timeline.Check the answers together.
3.Ask students what they can learn from Vincent’s travel experience.Invite some students to talk about it in front of the class.Then help them make a list of ideas.The teacher gives some examples like this:I can learn about the history of a country or a city.
4.Pair work:Ask students to share the ideas with a partner.
5.Lead students to read the diary entries again and solve the key and difficult words,phrases and sentences.Then the teacher teaches the new words and phrases.

1.Show the words in 2a.Let students read the words at first.Then ask them to think of as many words as possible to make phrases.The teacher can give examples.Then ask students to write them down.Share the answers together.
2.Lead students to read the words in the box in 2b and help them to complete the sentences with the correct words in the box.Check the answers with the class.
3.Let students read the words in the box in 2c.Ask them to complete the passage with the correct forms of the words in the box.Then check the answers together.

(1)Group work:Let students work in groups and make a list of the activities they did during their holidays.
(2)Ask students to choose five meaningful activities they think everyone should try.Then give the reasons.
(3)Let students share their five activities with the class.Then find out the top three activities that everyone likes to do.
