　　本单元教材以“Amazing Plants and Animals”为中心话题，整个单元都围绕植物和动物展开，包括谈论一些惊人的动植物，并用形容词、副词的比较级和最高级进行比较。通过本单元的学习，学生将了解一些令人惊叹的植物和动物，正确使用形容词和副词的最高级，学会描述世界上一些令人惊叹的动植物，以及理解我们是如何与植物和动物建立联系的。语音部分要求掌握字母a，i，y和字母组合ai，ay等的发音和理解在同一个句子中不同的重音意义上的差异。语法部分要求掌握形容词、副词的最高级用法。
第1课时　Section A（1a-Pronunciation）
Talk about the amazing plants and animals.
1.Master the main idea of the listening text.
2.Master some key words，phrases and sentences in this period.
3.Master the pronunciation of the letters and letter groups.
1.Learn to talk about the amazing plants and animals using superlatives.
2.Help the students to improve their listening ability.

Step 1　Lead-in
Greet students and lead students to review the words about plants and animals they know.
Lead in the topic：What can plants and animals do？
Step 2　Cooperative inquiry
1.Show the pictures in 1a on the PPT.Let students look at the plants and animals and teach the new words.Then present the words in the box and lead students to read the words.Ask students to use the words in the box to talk about them.Share the answers together.
2.Play the tape for the first time.Lead students to listen to the conversations and number the plants and animals in 1a in the order they hear them.Then invite one student to share the answers.
3.Play the tape for the second time.Let students listen again and match the words with the plants and animals in 1a.Check the answers and then teach the words and phrases in the box.Introduce the usage of the superlatives.
4.Play the tape，and ask students to listen and imitate the intonation.
5.Pair work：Help students ask and answer questions about the plants and animals in 1a in pairs.Use the sentence structures in 1d：
A：What’s amazing about the blue whale？
B：It’s the largest/biggest animal in the world.
After a few minutes，invite some pairs to present in front of the class.
6.Present the words in activity 1 one by one.Lead students to read the words and try to find out the pronunciation of the letters and letter groups.Make a summary together：a，ai，ay/eI/，i，y，igh/aI/，oy，oi/ I/，bl/bl/，cl/kl/，gl/ɡl/，br/br/，cr/kr/，gr/ɡr/.After that，play the tape and lead students to listen and repeat.And add one more word to each group.Finally，check the answers together.
7.Play the tape and let students listen to and repeat the sentences in activity 2.Help students notice the difference in stress and meaning of the same sentence.Then the teacher makes a summary.

　　在谈论惊人的动植物时，虽然设计了多样化的语言情景和活动，学生基本掌握了核心句型，但是部分学生在实际运用时仍显得生硬，缺乏灵活性。在未来的教学中，教师应更加注重语言的实际运用，创设更多贴近生活的场景，让学生能够在真实情境中自如地交流。

Show some pictures of amazing plants and animals.Ask and answer the questions about them.
Step 2　Cooperative inquiry
1.Show some pictures of bamboo and let students describe it.
2.（1）Play the tape for the first time.Ask students to listen to the conversation and fill in the blanks.Check the answers with the class.
（2）Present the questions in 2b and lead students to read the conversation and answer the questions.Invite several students to share the answers.
（3）Show the mind map in 2c.Ask students to complete the mind map with the information from 2a.Check the answers together.
（4）Play the tape，and ask students to listen and imitate the intonation.Learn the new words.
3.Role-play：Ask the students to role-play the conversation in groups.Invite some students to act out the conversation in front of the class.
4.Pair work：Present the pictures in 2e and lead students to talk about the importance of the bamboo.Let students imagine they are a tour guide at the Bamboo Sea and their partner is a foreign tourist.Then make up a conversation about bamboo and its importance in pairs.Students can use the sentence structures in 2e.Finally，invite some students to share the conversation in front of the class.
5.Present the sentences in 3a and teach the new words：land，African.Let students read the sentences and notice the words in bold.Help students find out what the ways to form a superlative adjective or adverb are.Then make a summary together.
6.Show the sentences in 3b.Let students complete the sentences with the superlative forms of the words in brackets.Check the answers with the class.
7.Lead students to read the words in 3c one by one.Then present the passage in 3c and help students complete the passage with the superlative forms of the words in the box.Invite several students to share the answers.

Step 2　Cooperative inquiry
1.Show the pictures in 1b and then present the title of the text in 1b.Help students guess what the text is about.Discuss in pairs.
2.（1）Lead students to read the text and underline the adjectives the writer uses to describe bees.Check the answers with the class.
（2）Present the mind map in 1c and ask students to read the text again and complete the mind map with the information from the text.Ask students to underline the key words and sentences in the text.Invite several students to share the answers.
（3）Present the questions in 1d and lead students to discuss the questions.Answer the questions together.
（4）Help students solve the key and difficult words，phrases and sentences in groups.Then teach the new words and phrases.

Step 2　Cooperative inquiry
1.（1）Present the words in 2a and lead students to read them one by one.Circle the odd ones.Then give the reasons.Check the answers with the class.
（2）Show the words in 2b and let students add the endings -ance，-（t）ion，-ness，and -ity to form nouns.They can use a dictionary.Check the answers together.
（3）Present the words in the box in 2c.Ask students to complete the sentences with the correct forms of the words.Invite two students to share the answers.
（4）Show the words in the box in 2d.Help students complete the passage with the correct forms of the words.Check the answers together.

（2）Let students imagine they are a blue whale and use the first person to rewrite the first paragraph.Invite two students to present in class.
（3）Help students complete the passage about the blue whale based on the text in 3a.Walk around the class to offer language support as needed.Correct their spelling and grammar mistakes if any.After that，choose two students to share their passages.
