  本单元教材以“future”为中心话题,整个单元都是围绕着“未来”展开的,包括预测未来和用一般将来时谈论未来。通过本单元的学习,学生将学会对未来进行预测,能用一般将来时谈论未来的生活,思考科技将如何改变我们的生活以及我们应该如何为未来做好准备。语音部分要求掌握几个字母和字母组合的发音,如n,kn等。语法部分要求掌握一般将来时的用法。
第1课时 Section A(1a-Pronunciation)
Make predictions about the future.
1.Master the main idea of the listening text.
2.Master some key words,phrases and sentences in this period.
3.Master the pronunciation of the letters and letter groups.
1.Use the simple future tense to make predictions about the future.
2.Help students improve their listening ability.
A tape recorder,PowerPoint and multimedia.
Step 1 Lead-in
Greet students in English and ask students to talk about what the life will be like in 100 years.The teacher can give students some hints,such as the changes of cities,the environment,robots,people,the world and other things.Then lead in the topic:What are your predictions about the future?
Step 2 Cooperative inquiry
1.Show the picture in 1a on the PPT.Let students think about which of the predictions they think will come true in 100 years.Then tick the ones that they agree with.Share the answers together.
2.(1)Play the tape and lead students to listen to the first conversation and complete the summary.Then check the answers with the class.
(2)Ask students to listen to the second conversation and circle T for true or F for false.Then invite two students to share the answers.
(3)Play the tape,and ask students to listen and imitate the intonation.
3.Pair work:Let students ask and answer questions about predictions in 1a with a partner.Use the sentence structures in 1d:
A:Will we be able to live on earth in 100 years?
B:Yes,we will.I believe people will make the earth a better place.
A:Will many people live in outer space?
B:Well,I don’t think…
After a few minutes,invite some pairs to present in front of the class.
4.Present the words in activity 1 one by one.Invite students to read them aloud and try to find out the pronunciation of the letters and letter groups.Then the teacher makes a summary:n,kn/n/;ng/ // ɡ/;nk/ k/;ch,tch/t /;j,ge,g/d /;f,ph/f/;r,wr/r/.After that,play the tape and lead students to listen and repeat.And add one more word to each group.Finally check the answers together.
5.Show the sentences in activity 2.Let students read the sentences first by themselves.Then play the tape,and let students listen and match the emotions with the sentences.Check the answers together.
Step 3 Homework

2.Help students improve their listening and speaking abilities.

Step 1 Lead-in
1.Greetings.
2.Free talk.
Ask students to work in pairs or groups and let them discuss the following questions:
Do you think the predictions for the future will come true?
What other predictions about the future can you make?
Step 2 Cooperative inquiry
1.Let students listen to the conversation in 2a and fill in the blanks.Check the answers together.
2.Show the table in 2b.Let students read the conversation and complete the table.Check the answers with the class.
3.Present the questions in 2c.Ask students to read again and answer the questions.Then invite three students to share the answers.
4.Help students solve the key and difficult words and sentences.And then learn the new words together.
5.Ask students to listen to the conversation again and imitate the intonation.
6.Role-play:Ask the students to role-play the conversation in groups.Invite some students to act out the conversation in front of the class.
7.Lead students to talk about what they think life will be like in the future.Make up a conversation about their future predictions and finish the table in 2e.Use the sentence structures in 2e.At last,invite some students to present in front of the class.
8.Lead students to read the sentences and notice the words in bold in 3a.And find more sentences in Section A that use the simple future tense.Then the teacher makes a summary about the usage of the simple future tense.
9.Let students complete the conversation with the correct forms of the verbs in the box.Remind them that some verbs are used more than once.At last,invite some students to write the words on the blackboard and check the answers.
10.Help students write some predictions about their partner’s life in 20 years and then make up a conversation like this:
