Make our feel healthyBA medical breakthrough in China is giving new hope to people with spinal cord injuries (脊髓损伤). Scientists have created a brain-spinal chip (芯片) that allows paralyzed (瘫痪的) patients to move their legs, and even walk again. The chip, only 1mm wide, is designed to be fitted into the brain and spinal cord. If the natural communication between the brain and muscles (肌肉) is lost, this chip becomes the bridge. When the chips work, they create a direct connection between the brain and muscles. The results have been amazing. A 34-year-old man, paralyzed after a fall, could move his legs just one day after the operation on January 8, 2025. Two weeks later, he walked five meters with help. Three other patients had similar operations in February and March, all getting better within weeks. Even though the patients’ nervous systems were damaged (受损), the chips helped them walk again. This marks a big step in China’s progress in medical science and it brings hope for over 3.7 million people in China.“This is just the beginning,” Jia, the lead researcher, says. “With the technology, these people may one day leave wheelchairs behind after 3 to 5 years of training.”Behind this achievement is a long journey of careful research and bold thinking. It took the researchers over 10 years to develop the chip. They tested it on animals first, and then on people. They faced many challenges, yet they never gave up. Step by step, they developed a system to reconnect the mind and body in ways once appearing only in science fiction. As the chip continues to improve, it lights a new path forward—one built on science, shaped by care, and aimed toward a brighter future.24. Challenges for Chinese ScientistsCA theory of emotionTwo scientists called Stanley Schachter and Jerome Singer developed the two-factor theory of emotion in 1962. They said that emotions are formed in two parts. First, the body has a physical response to a threat and then the mind considers the physical response as an emotion, which is then felt by the person. For example, imagine you are walking through a forest and you see a bear. Seeing it would probably start a physical response, such as your heart beating very fast and sweat breaking out. Your mind then decides that this is fear, which you feel as an emotion.A new study has suggested that the key to reducing feelings of anger is not venting (letting the angry emotions out) but doing calming activities such as yoga or meditation. The study was published in March by Sophie Kjaervik and Brad Bushman from Ohio State University in the US. They wanted to explore the popular theory that venting (expressing) anger is a good way of reducing it. Examples of venting anger include shouting or hitting something like a cushion, so that you let go of the emotion and therefore don’t feel it any more. The pair looked at 154 other studies on anger. These involved 10, 189 people, and included a variety of ages and backgrounds. In their study, Kjaervik and Bushman define anger as “an emotional response (反应) to a real or imagined threat (威胁)”. They used a theory of emotion (情绪假说) that says emotions are partly felt in your body and partly in your mind. The scientists looked at the other studies to see how different activities influenced anger. They found that activities such as running or boxing—which are often thought to be good for dealing with anger—weren’t very good at reducing it. In fact, some of these activities actually made it worse because they increased physical responses in the body that are linked to feeling angry. For example, they made people’s hearts beat faster. However, activities that decreased physical responses in the body did help to reduce feelings of anger. These included activities that slow the heart rate, such as deep breathing, meditation and yoga. Bushman says activities that increase physical responses may be good for heart health but are “definitely not the best way to reduce anger”.The team found jogging was most likely to increase anger. However, some heart-rate increasing activities—like ball games and team sports—could reduce anger.28. What is the main finding of the new study A. A new method of venting anger. B. A new method of reducing anger.C. Good activities to vent anger. D. Good activities to reduce anger.29. What can we learn about calming activities A. They can reduce feelings of anger. B. They can increase the heart rate.C. They are good for mind health. D. They are good for heart health.30. According to Schachter and Singer’s theory, what happens first if you see a snake and feel afraid A. You get the feeling of fear. B. You get the feeling of calm.C. Your heart beats fast. D. Your heart beats slowly.31. The following sentence can best be put at the end of ________.They think this shows that fun or playful activities help to reduce negative feelings.A. Paragraph 1 B. Paragraph 2 C. Paragraph 3 D. Paragraph 4DMany marine species (海洋物种) depend on specific routes to migrate (迁徙). The routes offer these seafaring travellers the right conditions, at the right time of year, to guide them through the oceans. We humans try to discover the routes and have drawn our own lines, but they are not clear to us because of unexpected changes in nature. To find out the routes that migratory marine species regularly take, a research team of scientists in Australia and the US have now created an interactive map that shows the paths connecting ocean habitats (栖息地).The new map, named the Migratory Connectivity in the Ocean (MiCO), collects data and makes it easier for scientists to see where migratory marine species may be falling into the paths. The database (数据库) includes information on 109 species, based on around 30 years of data, and shows where they are going to and from—including which species cross into whose national waters.“MiCO connects almost 2, 000 important habitats and shows the importance of cross-boundary teamwork,” says the research team. They find that all of the species recorded in MiCO have less protection at some point in their life history because of different situations in different countries. That means no country is able to fully protect migratory species if there is no help from others. “For example, green turtles nest in Costa Rica and migrate north through Nicaragua and out to islands in the Caribbean,” the team says. “Although largely protected in Costa Rica, it is allowed to fish for turtles in Nicaragua and huge numbers are lost off the coast there every year.”MiCO works to provide useful knowledge on migratory connectivity to help protect marine species. In 2023, a UN report found climate (气候) changes are having bad influence on migratory species. MiCO catches the information from different time periods and the team hopes it may be used to tell those changes in connectivity. MiCO is also expected to collect information on more migratory marine species because there is less than one-third of data collected now.“So far, the migratory information revealed within the MiCO system only touches the surface of the true connectivity of the global oceans,” the team says.32. How does the writer lead in the topic A. By offering advice. B. By presenting study results.C. By expressing opinions. D. By giving background information.33. What is MiCO A. A map that humans draw to look for marine species.B. A route which guides marine species through the oceans.C. A database that shows the lines marine species migrate along.D. A system which scientists use for researches on temperature changes.34. Why does the writer take the example of green turtles A. To prove the harm in fishing for migratory species.B. To show the importance of cross-country teamwork.C. To share the methods of marine species protection.D. To explain the reason for marine species to migrate.35. Which of the following can be the data MiCO collects A. Over 10 laws are made on marine species protection.B. There are mainly 3 elephant species living on the earth.C. Leatherback turtles travel about 20,000 km from Indonesia to Oregon.D. Thousands of people visit the whale shark habitat in South Africa every year.第二节 阅读七选五(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。Chinese government introduced a national plan called “Weight Management Campaign”. Her artworks, filled with lively colors, caught the beauty of her surroundings. Despite her talent, Mei often battled with self-doubt. She wondered if her skills were truly excellent or if she was just fortunate. One day, Mei heard about a painting contest in the town called the “Sunlit Art Challenge”. Determined to prove herself and remove the doubts, Mei quickly signed up for it. The contest stirred a mix of excitement and nervousness in her. Mei spent countless hours perfecting her painting technique, pouring her heart and soul into her works. For the contest, Mei painted a beautiful sunrise over the sea. The sun just started to rise above the horizon (地平线), its bright light beginning to shine over the ocean. The sun’s rays looked like golden light, spreading across the water and making it shine like a giant mirror. As the sun rose higher, it looked like a bright ball of fire, warming the sea and making the waves shine brightly. The sky changed colors too, from a soft blue to bright oranges, pinks and reds. It was like watching the day begin right there on her canvas (画布). Mei’s painting captured the peaceful yet lively scene of the sun’s first rays touching the vast ocean, symbolizing hope.On the day of the contest, the village square was filled with excitement. Artists from near and far displayed their works. Mei set up her painting, feeling both proud and anxious. As the judges evaluated (评估) Mei’s painting, her heart raced with nervousness. Since their expressions were hard to read, Mei felt like her doubts were right, that she wasn’t as good as she hoped. When the host started to announce the winners, Mei listened with hope and curiosity. But sadly her name wasn’t called. Disappointment washed over her, and she forced a smile, applauding (鼓掌) the winners. After the contest, Mei felt disheartened. She thought her painting had failed to impress anyone, and she lost her motivation to lift her brush. At that time, Mr. Zhang, a villager, approached Mei.注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。Mr. Zhang told Mei that Mei’s painting was excellent and moved him.Mr. Zhang’s recognition of Mei’s works renewed Mei’s interest in painting.参考答案与具体解析第一部分 听力 (共两节,满分30分)第一节 (共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分)1.B 2.C 3.C 4.B 5.C第二节 (共15小题;每小题1.5分,满分22.5分)6.C 7.A 8.C 9.B 10.A11.B 12.A 13.B 14.A 15.C16.A 17.A 18.C 19.B 20.A第二部分 阅读第一节 阅读理解A 篇21. Held on June 3rd in the school hall, the festival aimed to promote the inheritance of traditional culture, inspired by the popularity of Dong embroidery.Various activities attracted students’ active participation. Many tried their hand at calligraphy, writing Chinese characters with brushes and ink, experiencing the beauty of strokes. Others showed great interest in embroidery, learning basic stitches from teachers and creating simple patterns. There were also performances of traditional music and a display of ancient costumes, making the hall full of cultural charm. For me, the festival was a wonderful journey. I felt proud of our rich traditional culture and realized the importance of passing it on. Through hands-on experience, I not only learned practical skills like embroidery but also developed a deeper love for the wisdom of our ancestors.第二节Mr. Zhang, who had been watching silently, smiled warmly and said, “Mei, your painting is extraordinary. The way you captured the sunrise’s light on the sea—it feels alive, like I can almost feel the warmth.” Mei lowered her head, confused. “But I didn’t win,” she whispered. “Winning isn’t everything,” Mr. Zhang replied. “Your painting tells a story of hope, and that’s what art is about. The judges might have missed it, but I saw how your brushstrokes carry your passion.”Mei looked up, tears in her eyes.
