教学重点： Students will be able to get specific information from the book review of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
教学难点： Students will be able to comment on the characters of the heroes in the book and understand their feelings.
教学过程
Step 1 Lead in Free talk. Ask and answer: ① In your opinion, what kind of books are great ② What great books have you read Step 2 Reading Read and predict: What may be written in the book review Read and match the main idea with each paragraph. Read Paragraph 1 and complete the table. Read Paragraph 2: ① Find the main characters and the relationships between them. ② Answer: What do you think of Tom . Read Paragraph 3: ① Answer: What’s the writer’s favourite part ② Circle the words that describe people’s feelings. ③ Answer: If you were Tom, what would you say to your family after you see them in the funeral Read Paragraph 4 and answer: ① How popular is the book ② Why is it popular Read the whole passage and answer: After reading the book review, are you interested in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Why or why not Step 3 Sharing Choose one of your favourite books and share it with us. It must include the writer, main characters, your favourite part, reasons why you like it. Step 4 Homework 1. Read the passage fluently after class. 2. Write a passage about your favourite book. Optional: Read more great books around the world and share with your friends.
