第三课时 [(3a-3c) Writing & Project]
Study of the Text
What:This lesson centres on “The Ecology and Conservation of Blue Whales”, using an expository text(3a) to introduce the blue whale’s physical characteristics, habitat, diet, lifespan, and the role in the ecosystem, emphasizing the importance of protecting endangered species.
Why: The text reveals the interdependence between species and the ecosystem through the blue whale’s role.It develops analytical skills through factual data and logical structure(facts→conclusions);Project-based learning(poster creation) transforms knowledge into advocacy, encouraging students to promote conservation, aligning with the curriculum’s goal of “harmonious coexistence between humans and nature”.
How: The expository text(3a) uses a general-to-specific structure with multimodal elements(tables, projects), matching adolescent cognition and combining objective data(weight, lifespan) with cause-effect chains(diet→ecological impact) for persuasion. Project follows a “learn—apply—create” progression, enabling deep learning.
Learning Objectives
