1. Lead - in (5 minutes) Show a picture of a family gathering with grandparents. Ask: “Do you often have grandparents over What do you usually do to welcome them ” Elicit students’ ideas and introduce the topic of preparing for grandparents’ visit. 2. Pre - listening (3 minutes) Introduce new words and phrases in 2a (e.g., “arrival, sweep up”) with simple definitions and examples. Predict the content of the listening material based on the picture and questions in 2a. 3. While - listening (8 minutes) 2a Listening: Play the conversation. Let students fill in the blanks. Check answers together, and explain key sentences (e.g., “Well, it’s not ‘grandma clean’ yet! ”). 2d Listening: Play the conversation again for students to listen and repeat, focusing on pronunciation and intonation. 4. Post - listening (12 minutes) 2b Reading & Answering: Students read the conversation and answer the questions. Discuss answers, especially the cultural meaning of “grandma clean” to deepen cultural awareness. 2c Mind Map Completion: Guide students to complete the mind map with information from 2a. Encourage adding more personal ideas to the “other” section, developing logical thinking. 2d Role - play: Students practice role - playing the conversation in pairs, paying attention to expressions and intonation. Select some pairs to perform in front of the class and give feedback. 5.
