Maybe there are many moving stories around you. Today you can know one of them. This story is just so sweet and sad at the same time. 11-year-old Lu Zikuan had to eat five times a day because he wanted to save his father’s life.
________ Doctors told him that the only way to save his father’s life was with a bone marrow transplant (骨髓移植). Lu was the only person in the family to save his dad.
But there was one big problem—he had only 30 kg. And doctors told the family that the boy had to gain weight (增重) to at least 15 kg.
In order to do the transplant safely, Lu ate a lot for five meals a day. This made it hard for him to walk. He was only a primary school student, but in the end, he gained enough weight and saved his father in September.
“Adding each kilogram means I’m one step closer to helping my dad. I can do it,” Lu said. The boy got an award (奖) for his filial piety (孝心) in a contest called “Searching for Filial Teens”. Maohou, which means the monkey is full of hair in Chinese, is a traditional art in Beijing. Maohou figurines (小塑像) are usually shorter than 4 cm. In 2009, it was listed as an intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产) of Beijing.
Qiu Yisheng, who was born in 1961 and continues the maohou-making art, is a person for this traditional art. As a Beijing local, he fell in love with funny maohou when he first saw it in his friend’s home back in the 1980s. Then, he got crazy about it.
“Anyone can make a maohou,” he said. “But it takes years of practice to create a maohou that has no facial looks, but tells a story like a human.”
Qiu’s works come from his understanding of life. In his work “Antivirus Software”, three monkeys on a CD fight six monkeys that are trying to climb on the CD to break into the computer. Qiu made it in 2011, a year when computer viruses were still a serious problem. What’s funny is that every maohou has a “smart hairstyle”, which was very popular at the time.
Although his works are often funny and creative, maohou-making is becoming a lost art. “Not many people know maohou. Artists who make it can’t earn enough money by it.” Qiu said. He calls for more attention to the art.
24.What do we know about maohou
A.It is difficult to find things to make it. B.Only Beijing locals can make it.
C.Human hair is used to make maohou. D.Most of maohou are very small.

B.Qiu is interested in computer science.
C.Qiu’s ideas in his works come from life.
D.Qiu can show rich facial expressions in his works.
27.What is the main idea of this passage
A.To show different works of maohou created by Qiu Yisheng.
B.To introduce the process of making maohou figurines in detail.
C.To tell the story of Qiu Yisheng and his love for maohou-making art.
D.To explain the reasons why maohou-making art is so popular in Beijing.

Have you ever seen sharks when you visit an aquarium Do you know those fierce sea animals with sharp teeth are the superheroes They help keep the ecological (生态的) balance of our ocean with their superpower.
Sharks live in coastal waters and they protect what is known as “blue carbon”—carbon stored in oceans. These remarkable animals hunt in coral reefs and seagrass meadows, or even search the sea floor for dead matter. They target plant-eating fish so they can positively influence the marine carbon (海洋碳) cycle. This behavior stops the potential (潜在可能) of the prey fish from eating too much ocean vegetation, like seagrass meadows. Seagrass can capture (捕获) atmospheric carbon 35 times faster than tropical (热带的) rainforests and store huge amounts of carbon for years.
For example, tiger sharks help seagrass meadows by keeping populations of sea cows in check. They also prevent sea turtles and other prey species from overeating them, resulting in more evenly distributed (均匀分布) seagrass. And in coral reef ecosystems, sharks will prey on coral reef fish, improving the carbon-capturing and storage abilities of the coral reef ecosystem.
Sharks protect carbon stores in marine ecosystems not only by preying on fish but also by simply migrating. Many shark species migrate thousands of miles over their lives, and they help cycle and redistribute nutrients (养分) throughout marine ecosystems.
Sharks swim throughout the different ocean layers, performing vertical migrations that mix nutrient and oxygen-rich deep water with nutrient-poor surface waters, helping to oxygenate them and improve their productivity, which helps those animals living in the ocean’s surface water, like phytoplankton, by getting the nutrients they need to be more productive. Like plants on land, phytoplankton can pull carbon dioxide (二氧化碳) from the atmosphere and produce oxygen.
When animals on land die, the carbon stored in their bodies is coming out into the atmosphere. But when ocean animals die, their bodies—and the carbon in them—sink to the bottom, becoming carbon reservoirs (储存) for thousands of years. Carbon makes up about 10%-15% of a shark’s body, so this cycle is particularly important for larger marine animals.
However, in recent years, shark populations have been hard hit and are decreasing quickly and more than a third of all sharks are now in danger. That will lead to imbalances such as the rapid increase in prey numbers and the potential destruction of carbon-storing underwater habitats. To stop that from happening, we need to do something to protect them such as avoiding using shark products, reducing our seafood consumption (消费) and supporting shark conservation (保护) organizations.
28.What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 2 probably suggest
A.Seagrass will disappear faster than tropical rainforest.
B.Ocean vegetation plays a key role in protecting blue carbon.
C.The marine carbon is 35 times more than that stored on the earth.
D.The marine carbon captured by seagrass will be consumed for years.
29.What can we learn from the passage
A.Sharks keep blue carbon by hunting and migrating.
B.Sharks are born to rebuild the marine carbon cycle.
C.Sharks help to save 10-15% of the blue carbon reservoir of the sea.
D.To help phytoplankton get nutrients, sharks swim in the deep sea actively.
30.What is probably the writer’s real purpose in writing this passage
A.To show the superpower of sharks.
B.To call on people to protect sharks.
C.To stress the importance of ecosystem.
D.To support a shark conservation organization.
31.Which of the following would be the best title of the passage
A.A superhero, not a killer B.A remarkable sea animal
C.A great protector of sea carbon D.A potential guard for ecosystem

I didn’t know when it happened, but when I 40 back, our conversations went like that. “Hi, Dad, ” I said.
And he said, “Hi, sweet, here’s Mom.”
I loved my dad, of course, but sometimes I was not sure if he had already shared everything I needed to know. Maybe I’d heard all his stories. Maybe, after knowing him for 40 years, there was nothing left to say.
Then, this past summer, my husband, our four kids, and I moved in with my parents for three weeks 41 our house was being repaired. They own a lake house, and Dad asked me to help him rebuild the bulkhead (隔板) at their dock.

As he explained the reason of not setting the blade (刀片) too deep, I realized that maybe it was not that there was nothing left to 45 . Maybe it was just that I’d spent my life asking him the wrong questions.
A few weeks later, after my family and I moved back into our own house, I called my parents. Dad answered. “Hi, sweet,” he said, “here’s Mom.”
“Wait, Dad,” I said. “How are you ” We ended up talking about the consulting things he was working on, and a new battery he’d bought for his boat. Nothing life-changing, nothing earth-shattering.
