Four Most Incredible Stadiums in North AmericaEstadio Azteca
Maybe it’s not the nicest, but it is a must-visit stadium(体育馆)in Mexico. Lying in the suburbs of Santa Ursula in Mexico City, it is the stadium that hosts the national soccer game in Mexico. When the 1970 World Cup was there, it hosted 10 matches, including the semi-final, and the final between Brazil and Italy. Given that Canada doesn’t have that many professional sports teams (at least not with the same popularity of US teams), stadiums north of the border are generally smaller and don’t quite get the same investment(投资)that stadiums south of the border do. There can be magic in the touch of a hand that loves you. It brings comfort and a silent promise that says, “I am here and you are not alone.”
I memorized every detail about my children. As babies, they reached for me whenever they were hungry or tired or just needed to be held. Sometimes, if they woke in the night, just the touch of my hand would ease them back to sleep. They clung to me when they took their first steps and we held hands when crossing streets and walking from the car to their classroom on their first day of school.
As they grew older and more independent, I noticed that they didn't hold my hand much any more. I told myself it was part of growing up, and I should just be glad they could do things on their own now.
But when you've been needed so much for such a long time, it's hard to step back and feel unnecessary.
Then one day, I was visiting my oldest son in New York, where he was working as an actor on a TV show. As we were about to cross a busy street that was filled with traffic, he grabbed my hand and shouted, “Hang on to me, Mom,” then led me safely across.
At that moment, I realized two things. First, my boy had become a man. Second, it was clear that our roles had changed. We still needed each other, but in different ways than before.
That scene has replayed in various ways with each of my three children. They have all taught me to lean on them just as they once leaned on me, and that we can always lean on each other. We live miles apart, but stay in touch every day. There is magic and comfort and healing in the touch of a hand that loves you, even if it “touches” you from afar.

In a new set of studies, researchers found that people showed greater goal commitment and performance when they told their goal to someone they believed had higher status (地位) than themselves. In these studies, higher-status people were those who the participants thought had more prestige (威望) than they did.
In one study, 17l undergraduate students were seated at computers and told they had to move a slider (滑块) on the screen to the number 50 as many times as possible within the given time. After counting how many times they successfully did this, they had to do it again, but this time they were told to set and write down a goal.
The experimenter then informed the participants that a lab assistant would come around and check on their goals. In some cases, the lab assistant was dressed in a suit and introduced himself as a doctoral student in the business school who was an expert on today’s study topic. For other participants, the same lab assistant dressed in casual clothing and introduced himself as a student at a local community college who was working part time at the business school. A third group of participants didn’t share their goals with the lab assistant.
Results showed that participants who shared their goals with the higher-status lab assistant reported they were more willing to achieve the goal they set for themselves than those who told the lower-status assistant. And participants who shared their goal with the lower-status assistant performed no better than those who told no one about their goal. “These findings provide evidence that refutes popular media recommendations that one should stay silent about a goal,” said Howard Klein, lead author of the new study.
“Contrary to what you may have heard, in most cases you get more benefit from sharing your goal than if you don’t as long as you share it with someone whose opinion you value,” Klein said. “You don’t want him to think less of you because you didn’t achieve your goal.”
8.Why did the lab assistant change his clothes
A.To act out roles of different status.
B.To approach the students more easily.
C.To work for different business schools.
D.To avoid being recognized by the students.

A.Deals with.
B.Catches up with.
C.Says no to.
D.Relies on.
10.Why do we benefit from sharing our goals with the right person
A.We care about what he thinks of us.
B.We get useful advice and support from him.
C.We improve ourselves according to his opinions.
D.We find a strong sense of purpose by sharing.
11.What might be the suitable title for the text

Today was Community Service Day at school. Maya’s class was going to make cards for the seniors living in a nursing home. It was also the first day Maya would be wearing her leg brace (腿支架) to school, which was designed to help her walk more steadily and smoothly.
It was a cold autumn morning, Maya looked down, feeling embarrassed. To make it lovelier, she had delicately decorated the brace with pretty butterfly patterns. Still, she was unsure about others’ reaction. All morning at school, kids kept glancing at her brace. To her relief, they didn’t say anything.
In the classroom, Maya was drawing little green buds (芽) and pretty flowers when her friend Samir came over and sat by her. She felt his eyes fixed on her brace and heard him asking, “What’s that for ” Not knowing what to say, Maya pretended she didn’t hear him. After a few seconds of awkwardness, she glanced back at him, and found that he looked a little sad.
After lunch, the class set off. The nursing home was on a small hill and all of them walked there happily along the path. Maya found that the brace did make it easier for her to walk up.
Maya and Samir were paired up with a lady who was 83 years old. There at the end of the hall in a wheelchair, with a big smile on her face, sat the lady, wearing a pink coat, with red lipstick and beautiful earrings. She looked bright and full of life. Moving flexibly and fast towards Maya and Samir, she greeted first. “I’m Joan, ” she said cheerfully, “Glad to meet you. ”
Maya and Samir handed her the cards they made. Joan looked at Samir’s card carefully and spoke with admiration, “You’ve written a poem! That’s so artistic!” Samir’s face reddened with shyness. Then Joan turned to Maya’s picture. “The first flowers of spring!” she cried in delight. “You really have a gift for using colour!” she said. Clearly, Joan’s praise added great power into Maya.

故填through。
故填to。
故填which。
故填have been presented。
之前”,用before。故填before。
46.One possible version:
Dear Sir/Madam,
On behalf of the student body, I submit these innovative ideas for the upcoming Art Week.
To enhance immersion, we could organize hands-on workshops — pottery, digital art, or street dance — alongside the main exhibitions. These sessions would not only deepen artistic appreciation but actively engage participants. Additionally, creating temporary outdoor art installations in the campus courtyard could inject vibrancy into our daily environment.
These proposals aim to transform passive viewing into active creation. Workshops cultivate practical skills, while outdoor installations turn the entire campus into a living gallery, fostering a sense of community and shared ownership of our creative space.
Let’s make this Art Week a truly unforgettable tapestry of expression!
Yours,
Li Hua

47.范文
There is a popular/prevailing idea among students that copying vocabulary repetitively is the best way to memories the English words and expressions. But I have a different view on that. Not only is it ineffective in memorizing words and expressions, also students tend to be lost in the usages.
To better improve the efficiency of memorizing vocabulary, I think it is best to put those words and expressions into sentences. It will become easier to remember the words and their usages as the vocabulary builds up. Also, making up sentences using the words is kindly advised. In this way, words will be not forgotten easily.

In a sudden wave of bravery Maya asked, “What’s it like being in a wheelchair ” “It helps me get around,” Joan said simply. Then, grinning, she added, “You’d be surprised at how fast I can go in this thing!” Right then, she moved the wheelchair across the room, turning around, back and forth. And what surprised Maya most was that she didn’t detect any pity or embarrassment from her. Then Maya looked up and found Joan was smiling, eyes purposefully resting on her brace. It was then that a spark of power was lit up deep inside Maya. That afternoon, the three of them had a pleasant talk over lots of things until it was dusk.
Deeply impressed by Joan, Maya offered to sit beside Samir on the bus ride back home. “Joan is great. I like her.” Samir admired. Maya nodded, lost in thought. With Joan’s wheelchair and smile in mind, she summoned up her courage and said, “The brace keeps my toe up so I can walk better.” “Really ” Samir looked amazed, reached out and touched it gently. “That’s super cool!” His words were so sincere that Maya felt warm and moved. It was a reaction that she expected deep inside her heart. Though it was autumn outside, it felt like spring for Maya. A little green bud was bursting — she and her brace looked cool, beautiful and dynamic in her and others’ eyes.
