Lesson 3 Thinking Skills and Reading Strategies

内容解读：
Thinking Skills本部分为思维技能的学习，重点训练学生提取和概括文本的标题与主题句的能力。首先是思维技能的学习理解活动，学生通过阅读学习话题与主旨的说明，了解相关概念。其次，学生借助图片、文本和话题与主旨图表，观察并理解标题如何体现总体内容，以及主题句如何表达文本的核心内容。再次，学生阅读文本，识别介绍夜间职业的语篇中的话题与主旨，完成话题与主旨图表的填写，进一步巩固所学技能。最后，学生尝试根据话题与主旨图表，谈论夜间职业及选择原因，将思维技能与实际语言运用相结合。本部分共有3个活动。
Reading Strategies本部分为阅读策略的学习，重点培养学生视觉化想象阅读策略的能力，即在阅读时尝试在脑海中构建图像、画面或场景，以加深对文本内容的理解。首先，学生通过阅读材料，了解视觉化想象阅读策略的定义及其具体步骤，初步掌握如何在阅读中运用这一策略。其次，学生阅读文本，找出能够帮助视觉化想象的关键词和短语，为后续的视觉化想象活动做好准备。最后，学生按照视觉化想象的步骤，再次阅读文本，在脑海中构建图像、画面或场景，并通过这一策略加深对文本内容的理解，提升阅读理解能力，同时培养创造性思维和语言感知能力。本部分共有３个活动。
II. Teaching aims
通过本课的学习，学生能够：
运用辨识话题和主旨思维技能，绘制话题与主旨图表；
运用视觉化阅读策略，阅读文本时将脑海中的图像具象化，更好地理解不同职业及其工作内容；
拓宽职业视野，培养职业兴趣，树立正确职业观，培养职业精神。
III. Teaching procedures
课时教学内容概述
本课时为思维技能和阅读策略的学习。 Thinking Skills部分为识别话题和主旨思维技能的学习。Acitvity 1为学习理解类活动。通过识别图片、文本、话题和主旨图表，帮助学生通过图表的方式提取主题句，初步掌握思维技能。Activity 2为应用实践类活动。学生阅读文本内容，完成话题和主旨图表，巩固和内化Activity 1中所学技能。Activity 3为迁移创新类活动。学生依据Activity 2的图表谈论夜间职业，提升语言表达、信息整合、批判性思维、合作交流等方面的能力。 Reading Strategies部分为视觉化想象阅读策略的学习，通过在脑海中构建图像、画面或场景等视觉形象，更好地理解语篇。Activity 1引导学生在文本中画出帮助视觉化想象的关键词和短语，再逐步建构相应的视觉想象。Activity 2和Activity 3为应用实践活动。要求学生运用视觉化想象阅读策略，建构消防员救火场景的视觉想象，加深对消防员这一职业的理解。

Step 1 Lead-in Read and understand the thinking skill of identifying the topic and main idea. Observe the pictures in Activity 1 and answer the questions: What is the girl’s job What does the dog do 根据学生回答问题的表现， 判断其提取图片信息的能力。
设计意图：引导学生通过观察图片获取关键信息，预测情节发展，为接下来的学习做好铺垫。
Step 2 Reading & Learning Read the text, study the topic-and-main-idea chart, and learn the thinking skill. Read the text in Activity 2, complete the topic-and-main-idea chart. Then check the answers. Retell the text based on the chart. 根据学生完成话题与主旨图表的情况，判断其对识别话题与主旨思维技能的掌握情况。
设计意图：引导学生使用识别话题与主旨的技能来提取和概括文本的标题和主题句，为在现实生活中运用所学知识打下基础。
Step 3 Drawing & Sharing Work in pairs. Think of a job at night. And draw a topic-and-main-idea chart. Then talk about the job based on the chart. 根据学生识别话题与主旨图表的完成情况，评价其对该思维技能的使用情况。 观察学生谈论夜间职业时的表现， 必要时给予指导和反馈。

Step 4 Reading strategies Read and understand the strategy of visualizing. Work in pairs. Read the text and underline the words and phrases that help you visualize. Follow the steps to visualize, and complete the sentences. Share the steps with the partner. 3. Check the answers. 根据学生画出的视觉化想象的关键词和短语及逐步建构视觉想象的表现，判断学生对该阅读策略的掌握情况，必要时给予指导。
