Lesson 3 Thinking Skills and Reading Strategies
I. Material analysis
Thinking Skills：本部分为思维技能学习，内容为辨析客观事实与主观观点，即区分基于个人认知、情感的主观判断与基于真实存在、可验证的客观情况，培养学生的批判性思维能力。第一步，教师呈现思维技能的定义和说明。第二步，学生借助图片、文本和图表初步了解如何辨析客观事实与主观观点。第三步，学生根据文本内容填写事实与观点图表，巩固和内化所学内容。第四步，学生根据Activity 2的内容讨论西湖的相关信息。本部分共有3个活动。
Reading Strategies：本部分为阅读策略的学习，内容为引导学生通过阅读上下文推断的阅读策略判断代词的指代。第一步，教师呈现阅读策略的要点及推断的活动示例，学生初步学习理解如何进行代词指代的推断。第二步，学生通过阅读文本开展应用实践活动，推断代词指代。第三步，学生阅读有关悉尼歌剧院的文本，画出代词并判断代词指代，巩固阅读策略。本部分共有3个活动。
II. Teaching aims
通过本课的学习，学生能够：
1. 通过图片、文本和图表信息初步了解如何辨析客观事实与主观观点；
2. 绘制事实与观点图表，区分主观判断与客观情况；
3. 运用推断代词指代的阅读策略提升阅读理解能力；
4. 结合客观事实和个人感悟，谈论一处自己喜欢的自然或文化景观。
III. Teaching procedures
课时教学内容概述
本课时为思维技能和阅读策略的学习。 Thinking Skills部分为辨析客观事实与主观观点这一思维技能的学习。Activity 1为学习理解类活动。学生阅读有关白洋淀的文本及事实与观点图表，并学习如何通过客观事实与主观观点描述一处景观，初步掌握思维技能。Activity 2为应用实践类活动。学生阅读有关西湖的文本，完成事实与观点图表，巩固和内化Activity 1中所学的思维技能。Activity 3为迁移创新类活动。学生分组基于Activity 2，进一步讨论西湖，强化对所学思维技能的掌握。 Reading Strategies部分为“通过推断代词指代”阅读策略的学习，主要内容为推断文本中代词指代的内容。Activity 1呈现文本、代词及其所指代的事物，让学生初步了解此阅读策略。Activity 2要求学生通过阅读文本和填写表格，对该阅读策略进行应用实践。Activity 3为话题迁移创新活动。学生通过阅读有关悉尼歌剧院的文本进行练习，巩固阅读策略。

Step 1 Lead-in Look at the picture about Baiyang Lake in Activity 1 and read the text. 2. Learn to distinguish facts from opinions by using a chart. 观察学生阅读文本后辨析客观事实与主观观点的表现，给予必要的指导。

Step 2 Reading& Learning Read the text in Activity 2 and summarize the main plete the fact-and-opinion chart. Check the answers. Retell the text about the West Lake. 根据学生阅读文本并完成事实与观点图表的情况，判断他们对辨析客观事实与主观观点这一思维技能的掌握情况。
设计意图：引导学生用辨析客观事实与主观观点这一思维技能从文本中提取信息，培养批判性思维能力，为进一步在现实生活情境中运用所学知识做好铺垫。

Step 4 Reading strategies Look at the picture in Activity 1 and talk freely about Bird Nest. Read the text and summarize the main idea. Pay attention to the pronouns and make inferences about them. Read the next part of the text in Activity 2. Make inferences about the underlined pronouns and complete the table. Check the answer. Read the text in Activity 3, underline the pronouns first and make inferences about them. An opinion is what someone thinks of feels. Reading Strategy: In a sentence, pronouns replace nouns. To fully understand the sentence, you need to make inferences about what the pronouns refer to.
