(2025·浙江·中考真题)Plains wanderers are small, rare birds that live in grasslands. Unlike most birds, female plains wanderers are larger and stronger than males. Females take the lead in protecting their nests and babies from animals like foxes, while males often sit on the eggs to keep them warm. These birds are hard to find because their feathers blend into the grass, making them look like part of the landscape. Sadly, their numbers have been dropping because people are taking over their grassland homes for farms and cities.
To save them, scientists are using AI. The key is the birds’ calls. Mother wanderers make soft sounds to talk to their chicks and warn about danger. These calls are quiet and easy to miss, but AI can hear them clearly. Scientists put microphones in the grasslands to record sounds all day and night. Then they put these recordings into a computer program. The AI learns to tell the wanderers’ calls apart from other noises, like the wind blowing or insects chirping. This helps scientists find where the mother birds are and how many chicks they have.
“AI helps us monitor these birds without bothering them,” says Dr. Lee, who leads the project. “We can find the most important areas for them and work to protect those places.” Once, the AI helped scientists find a hidden nest with three baby birds. Without AI, they might not have found it. Thanks to this technology, there is new hope for these rare birds, showing that AI can be a powerful tool in saving wildlife.

C.By counting eggs in the grass. D.By analyzing calls from mother birds.
4.What is the passage mainly about
A.Why plains wanderers are rare. B.How mother wanderers protect their chicks.
C.What AI can do in daily life. D.How scientists use AI to protect plains wanderers.
(2025·浙江·中考真题)Sun protection is more than just avoiding sunburn—it’s about keeping your skin healthy and feeling good all summer long. Here are some ways to protect yourself.
1. Use sunscreen (防晒霜) properly
Apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher 20-30 minutes before going outside. Don’t forget to reapply every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating. Studies show that most people apply too little sunscreen, so using enough (about 1 teaspoon for the face) is key.
2. Wear the right clothes
Wear long sleeves, hats, and UV-protective sunglasses. Dark-colored clothes with tight weaves block more UV rays than light ones. A good pair of sunglasses not only protects your eyes but also prevents fine lines around the eyes caused by squinting (眯眼).
3. Seek shade during peak hours
The sun is strongest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Use natural shade from trees or create your own shade with umbrellas or tents.
4. Drink enough water
Drinking plenty of water is important for skin health and overall comfort. When you sweat, your body loses water and salt, so drink lots of water even if you’re not thirsty. You can also enjoy drinks like tea or fruit juice.
By following these steps, you’ll reduce the risk of skin damage. Then you can enjoy being outside without worry. Remember: healthy skin means feeling good!
5.Sun protection can not only prevent sunburn but make us _________.
A.avoid sweating B.look young C.prevent allergies D.feel good
6.What should you do to keep skin healthy during hot weather
A.Wear light-colored clothes. B.Drink lots of water.
C.Avoid using sunglasses. D.Apply sunscreen once a day.
7.This article is most likely taken from which section of a magazine
A.Health. B.Sports. C.Science. D.Travel.
(2024·浙江·中考真题)Every year, lots of animals around the world go on migrating (迁徙 ) journeys. Some need to find food, others are looking for somewhere to produce and raise their young. Migrations can be long and difficult for animals, but new research on birds has found that farmland along the way can help their progress.
In spring, hundreds of thousands of birds living near Lake Poyang, in China, fly north to Siberia, Russia. On the way, they find places to stop and eat to keep their energy levels up for the long journey. Some birds, such as geese, eat young grass that starts to grow at the beginning of the season. This food can last for only a few weeks. And rising temperatures caused by climate change can sometimes make the grass grow earlier than usual. This means that some birds are arriving too late to eat the grass. As more land is used for farming, the natural wetlands where birds like to search for food are disappearing, too.
A team of researchers have recently chosen to follow 246 birds, including geese and tundra swans, that are flying from Lake Poyang to Siberia. They find that the birds have changed their diets to adapt (适应) to the environments they pass through. As well as eating grass from the wetlands along the way, the birds are also eating seeds (种子) dropped by farmers.
The researchers believe that seeds will become a more important part of migrating birds’ diets as more natural wetlands disappear. They suggest that if farmers use different ways of harvesting, such as using machines that leave behind more seeds in fields, it could help to feed migrating birds. However, they also say wetlands must be protected, so the birds can enjoy different foods during their long journeys.
8.Which can be a reason for animal migration according to Paragraph 1
A.Raising their babies. B.Enjoying the journey.
C.Sending food to others. D.Taking care of the old.
9.What problem might the birds meet when flying from Lake Poyang to Siberia
A.There is no grass growing along the way.
B.There is a sudden drop in temperature on the way.
C.Fewer natural wetlands are left for them to find food.
D.Some of the birds set out early and eat too much grass.
10.How do the birds adapt to the environments they pass through
A.By changing their diets.
B.By changing the way they fly.
C.By making their homes in wetlands.
D.By making fiends with farmers.
11.What can be the best title of the text
A.Stop killing, stop polluting B.Save water, save life
C.Bids help harvesting work D.Farms help migrating birds

(2023·浙江湖州·中考真题)Scientists believe the Earth is 4.6 billion years old. However, the mountains, valleys (山谷), hills, rivers, deserts and forests we see today are much younger than that. For example, Mount Qomolangma is about 60 million years old and the Amazon rainforest is only 10 million years old. The youngest sea in the world is the Baltic Sea, at about 15000 years old.
The Earth is always changing because of volcanoes (火山), earthquakes and of course, wind and rain. Some of these changes are very slow and others are quick. Water and ice can make very great changes to the planet. For example, glaciers rivers of ice can cut through mountains and make lakes and deep valleys. Many volcanoes are under the oceans and sometimes they become new islands. This is happening in the South Pacific, near Tonga.
It’s normal for our planet to change, but at the moment, scientists think it’s changing faster than usual. Some deserts are growing and many forests are getting smaller. The weather is getting wetter in some places and drier in others, and there are more big storms. According to the research, the sea level will continue to rise in the next hundred years. As a result, many cities will possibly be covered by water and much of the most productive farming areas will be lost. Some island countries are likely to disappear on the map of the world.
These changes will bring great harm to the planet. However, they can be beneficial to some people. For example, as the Arctic is getting warmer, some people in Greenland now own businesses and sell vegetables they grow on their land. That wasn’t possible in the far north 50 years ago. Farmers in Greenland like the warm weather and hope it will continue.
16.How does the writer describe the changes of the Earth in Paragraph 2
A.By using sayings. B.By giving examples.
C.By telling stories. D.By listing numbers.
17.From Paragraph 3, we can mainly learn about ________.
A.the age of the Earth B.problems for the planet
C.the life of the farmers D.influences on the mountains
18.The underlined word “beneficial” in Paragraph 4 is the closest in meaning to “________”.
A.harmful B.normal C.helpful D.uncomfortable
(2023·浙江衢州·中考真题)① One morning, I got up early and decided to make an apple pie for my mum. I called my grandma for help, followed a TV program to make jam and waited excitedly. I enjoyed every step so much that I didn’t notice three hours pass by. Although the pie looked terrible and was not that delicious, Mum ate it up and told me it was the best pie that she had ever had. For the first time, I realised that although I didn’t make the pie successfully, I really enjoyed the process (过程).
② The process is important because it brings us something bigger than the result itself. That is, we always have new experiences during the process, which may help us improve our skills or form good relationships with others. If we just concentrate on the result and do not enjoy the process, we will be more likely to feel disappointed and want to give up. As a result, we will never understand the real meaning of success.
③ But in this busy world, we see a lot of successful people are in competition. How can we enjoy the process Well, the question has the answer in itself.
④ Don’t always compare yourself with others. First of all, we are all different. And success means different things to us. For some, success means being famous, while for others, it may be health or power. Ride your own ride.
⑤ Slow down. You need to stop expecting immediate results in what you do and learn to be patient. Impatience leads to unhappiness. Do it slowly, but never stop.
⑥ Reward (奖励) yourself. Divide the process into small steps, and give yourself a reward after completing each of them. Rewarding yourself for small wins can go a long way. For example, if you are in the process of losing weight, enjoy your favourite cake once in a while.
19.How does the writer start the article
A.By giving an example B.By comparing facts.
C.By using old sayings. D.By listing numbers.
20.What do the underlined words “concentrate on” mean in Paragraph 2
A.Make up. B.Get ready for.

22.Which could be the best title for the text
A.Enjoy the process B.What does success mean to us
C.Never give up D.How can we achieve good results

(2023·浙江丽水·中考真题)Seagrass, an underwater plant that grows on the ocean floor, is very important for sea life. It also helps prevent global warming by storing carbon, a harmful gas. However, scientists don’t know exactly how much seagrass is at the bottom of the ocean. With the help of tiger sharks, a team of researchers has discovered the world’s largest seagrass meadow(grassland)on the seafloor near the Bahamas.
Seagrass meadows are home to many different kinds of fish, shellfish, and so on. Large sea animals, such as sharks, also spend a lot of time there looking for food. Seagrass can grow in very deep and dark waters, making it difficult to find. But sharks can dive deep into the water and get to the areas people cannot reach.
After noticing tiger sharks swimming through seagrass off the Bahamas, an American scientist worked with a seagrass expert, trying to map the locations of the plants. The researchers fitted seven tiger sharks with cameras. Since tiger sharks swim in groups, they placed satellite tracking tags(卫星跟踪器)on eight other sharks to find out exactly where the animals swam. They collected hours of videos of the tiger sharks swimming through seagrass.
The researchers found more seagrass growing near the Bahamas than they expected—in fact, they believe that there is more seagrass there than anywhere else on Earth. The new finding increased the total number of seagrass known to exist by 41%. However, more research is needed to discover the true size of the seagrass meadow.
Scientists often depend on findings from divers and boats to study about the underwater world, but this team found that working with animals improved their understanding. They are now placing cameras on sea turtles to study seagrass in the Red Sea. Hopefully, more mysteries about seagrass will be solved.
27.What are the scientists studying according to the passage

The race is on to get more electric cars on the road. People predict that electric cars might be more common in the future. But according to a 2021 survey by Pew Research Center, more than half of U, S, adults like gas-powered cars better. They say electric cars are expensive and charging (充电) them is a big problem. For now, most people plan to stick with gas-powered cars. We ask young readers what they think about electric cars.
Henry, 12 years old, San Francisco I think we should all have electric cars. This would cut down air pollution and allow us to breathe better. Cleaner air also means there will be fewer animals dying. Think of all the lives we have lost by destroying our environment. Some people think electric cars are pricey. But their prices are coming down. What’s more, gas costs a lot more than electricity. Once you use the gas, it’s gone. Anyway, I think we’re going to run out of gas at some point. This will make electric cars a need. Also, do you know that electric cars can travel 33 miles for about a dollar You can’t say that for gas. All cars should be electric!
Sandy, 13 years old, New York I don’t think all cars should be electric. First of all, charging stations are less common than gas stations. This makes electric cars a lot less convenient for long trips. What’s more, cold weather does harm to the batteries (电池). They can’t work well as usual. And electric cars are also more expensive than common cars. A new electric car usually costs around $ 11, 000 more than a new gar car. True, electric cars help slow climate change. But throwing batteries away can hurt our planet.
31.Over half of the American adults agree that electric cars ________ according to the survey.
A.have no problem in charging B.are bad for the environment
C.are expensive and less convenient D.can work better in cold weather
32.The underlined word “pricey” probably means “________”.
A.fast B.slow C.cheap D.expensive
33.Sandy develops her idea mainly by ________.
A.telling stories B.listing facts C.asking questions D.using sayings
34.Which of the following can be the best title for the passage
A.Should all cars be electric
B.Will cars be common in the future
C.Can electric cars help slow climate change
D.Are gas-powered cars bad for the environment
(2023·浙江杭州·中考真题)We all enjoy being part of a group—there’s no better work than teamwork, right Actually, I disagree. Teamwork can be hard. In fact, it was so difficult that I left my office job and started working from home on my own. It’s a much better fit for me, and it has made me think about why teamwork can make our jobs harder rather than easier.
Personalities (个性) can make teamwork difficult. There’s often someone on the team that puts their needs first. The team often goes along with this person, whose ideas might not be the best, just the loudest. Just one difficult personality can make teamwork bine (结合) several challenging personality types, and it’s even harder.
Not having enough time together can also make teamwork challenging. For example, I was once on a team where we never had enough time to meet as a group. To successfully work as a team, you need time together—and lots of it.
A final reason teamwork is difficult is because there’s often no training on how to work on a team. You can’t just put people in a room and expect them to work well with each other. You need to build trust with your team members. Think of football players: They aren’t just given a ball and told to play. They practice, and they train.
Team can be hard, but working alone has its challenges, too. When my computer doesn’t work, I don’t have an IT person to turn to. When I have a great idea, I don’t have anyone to share it with to see if it really is a great idea. Don’t get me wrong—I still like my team of one and enjoy making all of the important decisions myself. But now I realize what was wrong with the teamwork I did in the past and how good teamwork could be if done correctly. And that’s useful information—because one day I might want to turn my ME TEAM into a WE TEAM.
35.Why did the writer choose to work from home on his own
A.To keep himself busier. B.To keep himself healthier.
C.To make his job easier. D.To make his team harder.
36.Which of the following makes teamwork difficult
A.Strong personality.B.Lots of teamwork time.C.Challenging ideas. D.Clear team roles.
37.What can we learn from the last paragraph
A.WE TEAM has hardly any advantages. B.ME TEAM needs a lot of IT engineers.
C.ME TEAM has no challenges for the writer. D.WE TEAM may be the writer’s choice one day.
38.What is the purpose of the text
A.To show the advantages of teamwork. B.To tell the importance of teamwork.
C.To introduce the influence of teamwork. D.To explain the difficulties of teamwork.
(2023·浙江杭州·中考真题)Cyclocross is cross-country bicycle racing. Racers spend only part of a race on their bikes because only part of the two-mile race is smooth. Other parts of the race have the challenge of obstacles (障碍). When racers reach them, they can ride over them, or pick up their bikes and run.
To be a top racer, you must dismount without slowing down at all. To do this, swing your right leg over the bike seat. At the same time, move the bike away from your body. This makes room for your right foot to hit the ground next to your left foot. As your right foot nears the ground, take your left foot away from the bike. Put both feet on the ground and start running!
As soon as you are running, you have to decide what to do with your bike. You may shoulder it or lift it. It’s important to practice both skills. Sometimes you need to run fast and jump over some obstacles. As your feet hit the ground, you reach down and catch the bottom of your bike. Lift up carefully and keep the bike on your right shoulder while you run. Sometimes you may lift your bike. You catch the top of your bike. Then you lift the bike high enough to get over the obstacles and carefully put the bike on the ground.
After you have carried your bike across an obstacle, you will need to remount. As soon as your bike is on the ground, push off with your left leg, swing your right leg over the bike seat, and move into riding position. Remounting can be the hardest skill of cyclocross. You can learn by watching someone who remounts well.
Cyclocross is a great way to stay active and have fun. However, it can be dangerous. Make sure that you are well prepared. Then, you will just need to go!

(2023·浙江温州·中考真题)Taihu Tunnel, 10.79 kilometres long and 43.6 metres wide, has been the longest underwater tunnel in China. It stands out as one of the “2022 China’s Top 100 Buildings in the New Era”.
When building Taihu Tunnel, the project team faced many challenges, such as high safety risks and time limit. To deal with them, they made workable plans. They divided the tunnel construction into 19 parts. The construction of each part mainly took four steps.
Step 1 Remove. The team built a cofferdam to remove water from the area, so the workers could go inside and do their work in dry conditions.
Step 2 Clear. The team dug deep into the lake bed, and cleared the soil and stones out in order to make space for the next step.
Step 3 Build. The team built the floor, walls and roof of the tunnel in this step. They used high-quality building materials to waterproof the tunnel.
Step 4 Backfill. The team put the soil and stones back. Then this part of the tunnel was buried deep down the lake bed.
The construction of the 19 parts was streamlined. The project team used a new method. The work group of each step moved to the next part and repeated their work after they finished the work in the previous part. Different work groups co-operated well with each other. From part to part, the construction started from the opposite ends, and got connected somewhere in the middle. The construction took about four years to complete, shorter than people had expected.
The drivers’ safety is fully considered in Taihu Tunnel. There are 200,000 LED lights on the ceiling of the tunnel. They show vivid pictures of blue sky, starry night and so on. The pictures can help drivers fight tiredness and travel through the tunnel safely. Besides, there are two systems in the tunnel. The police can check the traffic situation through a monitoring system. A marathon is a long running race of 26.2 miles (42.195 kilometres). The first Olympic Marathon was held in Athens. Now, many cities host their own marathons every year. Some of the best-known marathons around the world are the New York City Marathon, the Boston Marathon and the Tokyo Marathon. Among them, the Boston Marathon which started in 1897, is the oldest yearly marathon in the world. As time goes by, the sport has become more than just a race.
Themes of marathons add fun and meaning to the hard miles. Runners run for helping sick kids, celebrating important events, or just enjoying nature. There is a famous marathon in Gisborne, New Zealand, which is known for being the first city in the world to welcome the sunlight every day. Runners can greet the sunrise as they race along the golden sandy beaches.
Marathon routes bring people more understanding of the old sport. Some routes provide great sporting challenges for runners. The routes offer various surfaces, from bridges to sand to hills. Runners of all skill levels can sweat freely and push their limits in the race. Some routes are well planned for runners to explore the many sides of a city. For example, the route of the Great Wall Marathon takes the runners along the great wonder of the world. The race can be an amazing chance to get to know Beijing, its people and local food.

Do you get in trouble for feeding your dog on food from dinner under the table A new study suggests that by sharing “people food”, you might actually be helping to keep your pet healthy.
Many dogs are fed dry processed food. Science has shown that a diet (饮食) of processed food is not healthy for humans. Scientists from the University of Helsinki, in Finland, say this diet is not good for our pet dogs, either.
The scientists discovered that the foods a dog might find in an owner’s home such as eggs, fish, meat and vegetables may be better than a diet of just dog food. This is because having different kinds of foods leads to more variety (多样性) in microbes, which are little living things, too small to be seen with our eyes. There are millions of them in human and animal bodies. Some are bad for us, but many are good for us, and they play important roles in helping us digest (消化)food.
A total of 8,500 young pet dogs took part in the study. 4,500 of them were under 6 months old, and the rest were between 6 and 18 months old. The owners were asked about what foods they had fed their pets and how often. When the dogs reached adulthood, their owners reported that about 20% of the dogs showed CE symptoms (慢性肠胃不适症状) such as weight loss. However, if dogs had been fed a mixed diet while young, it was 22% less possible for them to experience CE symptoms later in life.
Dr. Anna Hielm-Bjorkman told The Times of London, “Dog foods on sale are described as providing a complete diet... But what we show is that variety is important. Nobody would give 12 years of the same food to a child—why should a dog be different ”

(2023·浙江绍兴·中考真题)Has a person ever warmly held a door open for you How do you feel after playing with friends And what would you say is your favourite family memory These questions have one thing in common: they’re all about connecting with people. “Let’s Connect” is the theme of this year’s Children’s Mental (心理的) Health Week. It improves mental health by building healthy social connections.
Humans naturally connect with others, whether that’s family, friends or people in our community. Healthy connections give people energy and support we all need people to celebrate and share our worries with. Social connections aren’t just about mental health; they improve physical health too, helping us to live a long life. Research suggests being lonely can slowly harm your health. Humans’ need for connection is different from person to person, but what’s important is not how many relationships you have, but how good your relationships are.
Then how to connect with others “You can reach out and connect with people in so many different ways,” says Julia Clements of Place2Be, the organizer behind Children’s Mental Health Week. You can connect in person or online, with your friends, parents, teachers or classmates. It’s not just people, either. “Some people feel connected with their pets or in nature,” says Clements. She advises making time to build more connections through actions as well as words. Being kind, listening to others and trying new experiences are all good tools.
Everybody may feel lonely sometimes and refuse to talk to others. Keep in mind that connections change—some become stronger, while others stop. “Remember that there are always people that care for you,” advises Clements. She says it’s important to tell someone you trust about how you are feeling, or safe organizations such as Childline or Shout. They can help, whether you’re looking to form new connections or repair a strained (紧张) relationship that is important to you.
59.The writer uses three questions in the beginning to ________.
A.express worries about humans B.lead into the topic “social connections”
C.introduce health problems D.interest readers in family memory
60.Paragraph 2 is mainly about the ________ of connecting with others.

(2023·浙江金华·中考真题)①Does life sometimes seem to be full of impossible problems How many times, for example, do you find yourself saying things like “I really don’t understand this Maths problem”, or “I can’t get into the school team” Well, maybe it’s time to introduce yourself to the power of “yet”. By adding this simple word, you can change everything. “I really don’t understand this Maths problem yet.” “I can’t get into the school team yet.” Suddenly, the impossible becomes possible. You can imagine those things happening.
②I read about a school that has changed the way it marks its students’ exams. The school find out that the old pass/ fail system wasn’t helping students’ motivation(积极性). If you passed, then great, but those students who didn’t pass often felt like failures. So now students who don’t pass the exams will not see a big red F on their papers; they see a “Not yet” instead. That way the students feel that they are on a journey. They haven’t reached the end, but they know that they are going the right way.
③This kind of thinking is part of what experts call “having a growth mindset”. People with a growth mindset don’t concentrate on failure. They aren’t worried by not getting things right the first time and are happy to keep trying until they do. They enjoy the challenge and believe they can change. In contrast, people who just focus on the failure have what the experts call “a fixed mindset”. These people are always worried about failure and are happy to give up when things don’t go right. They don’t think that they are able to change. Clearly, it is better to have a growth mindset than a fixed mindset.
④But don’t worry if you think that you have a fixed mindset. ________. Remember that it all starts with questioning the things you believe about yourself. Stop believing that you can’t or you haven’t and realize that you just can’t or haven’t yet. Once you start doing this, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it before. It’s one small but very powerful word.

A.express a feeling B.describe a problem C.show the result D.support the topic
64.According to the passage, which one of the following has “a growth mindset”
A.Jack got an “A” in the exam. He was quite happy to tell his parents.
B.David failed in a competition, but he stays confident and keeps trying.

D.Emma was refused by school team. She didn’t want to have another try.
65.Which of the following can be put into ________
A.Experts will help you grow up healthily in mind

D.You can change everything by adding the small word “yet”
66.Which of the following can be the best title for the passage
A.The Power of “Yet” B.Two Different Mindsets
C.Nothing Is Impossible D.On the Way to Success

Plants are more than just pretty to look at. They give us fruits, vegetables and food we eat. Some plants even provide materials for medicine or building things. But do you know that plants can do something even more amazing They can make our homes, schools and workplaces much healthier.
We spend a large part of our day indoors. Unluckily, the air inside buildings can often be full of chemicals(化学物质)from many things around us. This poor air quality(质量)can make us feel sick, causing sore eyes and throats, and even making it hard for us to breathe. When the air inside buildings gets really bad, people even call them “sick buildings”.
The good news is that plants are like nature’s little superheroes. They have a magic power fighting against bad air. Plants breathe in carbon dioxide (CO2) and breathe out oxygen (O2) which we humans need to live. They can also add moisture to the air if it’s too dry, making it more comfortable for us to breathe.
________ Scientists have discovered that plants have the ability to take in harmful chemicals, making the air around us safer to breathe. They set up a completely closed building called “bio-home” for experiments. Before they added plants, the air inside was full of chemicals and people found it hard to breathe. But after they added plants, the air got much cleaner and it became easier to breathe. To make the air inside even better, the scientists used different kinds of plants. After a while, the building wasn’t a “sick building” any more. People could go inside without feeling unwell.
So you see, plants are fantastic! They are not only beautiful to look at, but they also provide us with food, help create materials and play an important role in our health. They make our indoor environments cleaner and healthier, making us feel better. Next time you see a plant, remember all the amazing things it can do for us!

(2023·浙江宁波·中考真题)①Have you ever thought about what’s more important, looking fashionable or feeling comfortable You might have noticed many people choosing style over comfort and some even go to extremes(极端)to follow fashion. But we should remember: being fashionable isn’t everything. It’s more important to be healthy.
②Some people believe that they need to be a certain size to look good. So, they start extreme diets(日常饮食)that are not good for their health. They might not eat meals or eat too little, which can make them feel sick. Is it a healthy way to live
③Also, many girls wear shoes with very high heels. They might think high heels make them look taller. But these shoes can actually hurt their feet and make it hard to walk comfortably, and it can increase risks of falls. Some even wear tight(紧的)clothes that influence blood circulation(循环)making it hard to breathe. Should we put fashion over comfort and physical health
④Besides, some boys and girls spend a lot of time and money changing their hair color. The material they use is usually harmful to their health. To make their hair straight or curly, they also use tools that are hot enough to burn their hair. But using these tools too often or at very high temperatures can make the hair dry or even burnt. Is it really worth it to risk our health, spending so much time and money
⑤So, let’s rethink what’s really important. Is it fashion or is it our well-being Clothes or hairstyles don’t tell us anything about a person’s character. Instead of spending a lot of time choosing clothes, we could use that time to do fun things with friends. And instead of following extreme diets, let’s eat properly and exercise regularly. (2023·浙江·中考真题)What time is it The answer you give can be different, because you are in different Earth’s time zones(时区). But how could you tell the time if you aren’t anywhere on Earth
Scientists are now thinking of creating a lunar(月球的) time zone. They believe it would be better for astronauts to communicate by using Moon Time, as they travel to, from, and across the Moon. At the moment, astronauts are using time zones of their own countries. But there could be safety problems caused by the differences in time-telling.
________ Gravity(引力) influences how quickly or slowly time passes. Since gravity is weaker on the Moon, clocks run a bit faster there. After 24 hours, a lunar clock would be 56 microseconds ahead of a clock on Earth. Another point to consider is that a full day on Earth is about 24 hours between two sunsets. While on the Moon, it is nearly 709 hours, about 29.5 Earth days. This means that lunar nights can be around two weeks long, with only the Earth and the stars in the sky. With all this to think about, scientists need to decide whether it would be better to follow a time zone on Earth, or for the Moon to have its own special zone, which would have much longer days.
Scientists must consider other problems too. For example, who should be responsible for keeping the time zone going And how can it be made practical for astronauts to use
There are more countries planning Moon trips in the future. The idea of creating a time zone on the Moon would make these easier. And if a lunar time zone is set up, scientists could create time zones for other planets like Mars.
79.Scientists think that a lunar time zone can ________.

C.make the Moon trips safer D.make space travel faster
80.Which of the following can be put in the blank ________ in Paragraph 3
A.Setting up a lunar time zone is not easy.
B.Setting up a special time zone is important.
C.Scientists are holding different opinions.
D.Scientists need to do a lot of experiments.
81.If the Moon has its own special time zone, a full day of it can be about ________ on Earth.
A.56 microseconds B.24 hours C.two weeks D.29.5 days
82.What is the writer’s purpose in writing the passage
A.To give information about space travel. B.To introduce the idea of Moon Time.
C.To describe an experience of time travel. D.To share news about landing on Mars.
(2025·浙江宁波·二模)For many people, having a cup of coffee right out of bed is the best way to start a day. But a report from Asap Science says otherwise. It says the worst time for coffee is soon after we get up. When we wake up, our bodies start to make cortisol (皮质醇).
Cortisol helps us to think clearly and be quick to understand and act. The cortisol levels rise after we wake up and climb to the highest in about an hour. So there are two problems when we drink coffee during this time: our bodies will make less cortisol, and the cortisol will make coffee less useful. And that’s why some of us drink more and more coffee. Then, when’s the best time to have coffee When the cortisol levels are going down, the report says. Cortisol levels are usually highest between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., between noon and 1 p.m., and between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. So if you want to have coffee, enjoy it after these times, and this popular drink will help you the most.
Three people read the news and wrote what they thought about it.

(2025·浙江宁波·二模)①Everybody enjoys acts of kindness. But can you explain why Some people think kindness is something out of love and care, while others believe it is just a tool that we use to become more popular. But research shows that being kind can activate (激活) an area of the brain called Striatum. Research also shows that kindness improves people’s mood (情绪). But why and how does it happen Here are a number of different ways.
②Being kind can make someone smile. If you see yourself smile in a situation, people around may be smiling, too. This is specially true for your close friends and family. A kind act makes someone who is sad feel better. It can also make ourselves feel good. So why not set off that chain (链条) of good feelings to people around
③Secondly, being kind starts or develops a social connection with others. Kind acts like buying someone a present make friendships stronger. Research has shown that spending money on others may help you get a stronger feeling of happiness than spending it on yourself. Similarly, charities (慈善) also open up new circles of people to connect with someone on the other side of the world.
④In another recent research, even children in their first year of secondary school know how being kind makes them feel happy. If one person is kind, he or she makes others in the group kind. It also lifts everyone’s spirits. Imagine that you make cakes for the office and it makes others do it each month. Then you’re getting cakes a lot more days than providing them.
⑤All in all, being kind may improve your mood, but research has also shown that if you’re in a good mood, you can act much more kindly. This makes it a wonderful two-way relationship, doesn’t it

(2025·浙江宁波·二模)Scientists have made some predictions about the future. They’re surprising. They say that in the next fifty years, the way we live will be greatly different. Here are some of their predictions. Which is surprising to you
Growing body parts
Scientist Ellen says, “In 50 years, we can repair sick body parts in the same way as we repair a car.” But doctors will need lots of body parts. Where will they come from Scientists say these could be grown inside animals from human cells (细胞). In a hospital in London, scientists have already started to use human cells to grow noses and ears.
Living longer
In 50 years, living to be 100 years old while still enjoying active and healthy lives will be a common thing. Scientist Richard Miller says, “It’s now possible to make the animals in the lab (实验室) live longer than before. And we believe we can do the same for humans.” With new medicine, people in their 100s will be as healthy as today’s sixty-year-olds. Women will be able to have babies well at an old age.
________
According to scientist Daniel from Canada, a special machine will be able to “read” animals’ feelings and thoughts. It could first work with primates (灵长类动物), then the other animals. This way we can “talk” to animals and know what they think. Soon people on the planet will probably say no to meat and many of them may become vegetarians.

(2025·浙江·三模)① A typical morning: you wake up, take a shower, brush your teeth, and then prick (刺,扎) your arm with a tiny needle. Wait, what Unless you have a serious disease such as diabetes, you probably haven’t ever tested your own blood. But in the future, that might change.
② The company Cor already sells a system for home blood testing. You stick your arm using a painless, one-off, blood-drawing cartridge (针筒) about the size of a lipstick. Then you put the cartridge into a device that looks like the bottom for an electric toothbrush. A few minutes later, an app on your phone reminds you with new information, including your present health data and tips on what to eat and how to exercise during the day.
③ It’s true that blood includes a lot of information about a person’s health. Blood tests can show if a person is ill or at risk for some problems, including a heart problem. But most people don’t test their own blood until a doctor says it’s time. Healthy young people get blood tests about every five years. These tests happen at a lab, where a nurse put a long needle into the arm to get some blood. Cor and similar companies, such as Wellness FX, are trying to change all that. They think people have chances of knowing more information about their own health.
④ But not everyone is sure that usual blood testing for healthy people is a great idea. Cor’s system is expensive and may not offer many advantages. “The lightest result here is that you lose your money and then you’re reminded to get more sleep and to eat more fruits, vegetables, and fish,” Pieter Cohen of Harvard Medical School told the New York Times. “The worst thing is that you will get scared by probably unusual results, but that are actually normal for you.”
⑤ Moreover, the results of a home blood test might be wrong. It’s hard to get correct results from a tiny number of blood. So what do you think Is caring about your own health through the system in the future Or is it better to leave blood testing to the doctor in the hospital
