“Go! Go for it! You’ re almost to the top(顶部)!” On Monday morning, children at XuezhengPrimary
School in Hangzhou get together around a tall tree. They are cheering on their classmates who are
climbing the tree. On the tree, there are wooden stirrups(木镫) and no harm will come to the tree.PE
teachers help the
children put on protective gear(防护用具), and then they start the class happily.
Chen Yang is one of the PE teachers. He said the students were a little scared when they first took the
class. With his help, they didn't feel afraid any more. Some students can climb to the top now.
So why did they start this class In fact, many schools around the world have tree climbing classes.
Cornell University in the US first started the tree elimbing class. In 2012, students in Xiamen University
started to take the class. There are also such classes in Hubei University.
Tree climbing is similar to rock climbing(攀岩). It gives children a chance to go outdoors and helps build up their bodies. Maybe there will be more interesting and useful PE classes in the future.
