阅读下列短文，从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中，选出最佳选项。
After Arjun’s ‘accident’ there was always a teacher in the cloakroom during break and lunch time. The head teacher thought that there was a problem.
Brian and Mark didn’t bully Arjun again but they gave him menacing looks when they saw him. One day Arjun asked Tom for help.
Tom didn’t know what to do. He liked Arjun and he wanted to help him. But he didn’t want to upset Tara by fighting with the bullies. So he decided to walk home with Arjun after school to protect him.
The bullies didn’t like this.
A few days later, Tom and Ziggy were sitting in the playground during break time. Ziggy was listening to his MP3 player and Tom was thinking. Tom was always thinking. He wanted to tell Ziggy that he secretly fancied Tara. Maybe Ziggy knew what to do. But Tom knew that he had to think about the bullies, too.
“I have to be patient,” he thought, “and smart”. “First I have to stop the bullies, then Tara is going to like me. Just like the girls in films: they always fall in love with the hero,” Tom smiled to himself.
Tara was at the other end of the playground. She ran to meet them.
“Listen guys,” said Tom. “I’ve got a plan to stop Brian and Mark.”
“What is it ” asked both Tara and Ziggy with interest. Ziggy even pulled out his earphones.
“Well, we all have mobile phones, right ” asked Tom.
“Sure,” said Ziggy with a smile. Tara rolled her eyes. “We can call everyone we know to tell them about the bullies,” said Tom. “It’s not going to work,” said Ziggy. “It’s too expensive.”
“Oh right,” muttered Tom, “I didn’t think of that.” “But we could send text messages. That’s cheaper,” suggested Tara. “I get loads of free ones.”
Tara looked at Tom, “Why is Tom so angry about Brian and Mark ” she wondered. “I hope he doesn’t want to do anything silly like confront (对质) them or start a fight.” Tara was convinced (确信的) that the only way to stop the bullies was without using violence.
But she wasn’t sure that Tom thought that, too.
