Niska, a technology company, has opened an ice-cream shop in Australia. It’s an unusual shop because you can’t see any human workers there. It is managed by three robots. Pepper, Eka and Tony serve people their favorite ice cream.
The robots dance and wave flags to welcome customers. Pepper looks like a human. It can read people’s mind through the expressions on their faces and have simple conversations with the customers. At Niska’s ice-cream shop, Pepper’s task is to talk to customers and take their orders. Eka is a robot arm. It scoops (用勺子舀) ice cream. And then Tony puts chocolate or fruits on top of it.
Kate Orlova is Niska’s manager. She says the company tries to improve people’s shopping experience. The ice cream shop is just the beginning. “We’d love to see robots in every store,” she adds.
In a recent survey, half of the workers said their jobs had changed because of automation (自动化). But Orlova says Niska’s robots were not created to take the place of human workers. Instead, they were produced to improve the customers’ experience. “Robots can’t completely take the place of human beings. Yu enjoyed her lunch and took a short rest at a shopping mall. In the afternoon, she enjoyed the beautiful scenery while walking along the Garden Bridge of Shanghai. Before returning to school at 7:00 pm, she watched a hanfu show at Yu Garden and ate some snacks.
Similarly, another student named Chen Junjun also enjoys this type of travel. Chen prefers long-distance trips to reduce the pressure of her studies. In April, she had a two-day trip to Xi’an, Shaanxi, where she explored all the main tourist attractions (旅游景点). Chen mentioned that managing her studies could be challenging, so these trips served as a way to bring joy into her busy life.

A nap (小睡) is an important part of the afternoon in many countries around the world. In China, people call it wushui. In Italian, it’s riposo. And the Spanish word for it is siesta. Could these naps be good for our brains
Three scientists worked on this study and Valentina Paz led the study. She wanted to know if daytime napping could be beneficial to brain health. “Keeping the brain healthy is important for well-being,” Paz explained.
The scientists examined the brains of thousands of people. They studied their DNA too. And they found a connection between taking naps and having better brain health.
People with bigger brains are usually healthier and have a lower risk of developing an illness. However, our brains get smaller as we get older. The study showed that people who took naps often had bigger brains! In an earlier study, scientists compared the maths test results of 3,000 people in China and they found that an hour-long nap after lunch helped the people score better.
However, these studies don’t prove that napping causes bigger brains. After all, it is possible that people with bigger brains just like to nap more!
Paz hopes her research can teach people about the value of sleep. “Sleep plays an important role in keeping the brain healthy. When we do not get enough sleep, we could develop health problems,” she said.
69. Why does the writer mention the ways to say the word “nap” in different languages
A. To show a nap is important in many countries.
B. To show learning different languages is useful.
C. To show he is good at speaking different languages.
D. To show a nap improves people’s language learning ability.
70. What does the underlined word “beneficial” in Paragraph 2 probably mean
A. Harmful. B. Opposite. C. Similar. D. Helpful.
71. Which of the following does Paz agree with
A. Napping causes bigger brains. B. Napping helps keep brain healthy.
C. Brains get bigger as people get older. D. People with bigger brains enjoy more naps.
72. What’s Paz’s hope
A. Her study can call attention to the living environment.
B. Her study can encourage people to have enough sleep.
C. Her study can help people solve different brain problems.
D. Her study can provide a new direction for future research.
