1. Recognize the vocabulary of the subject and circle those they will learn in junior high.

1. Read three short introductions in activity 2, and match the places.
2. Find sentences with 'and', 'or', 'but' in the passage and consider the differences among three conjunctions.
2. Finish activity 2 and invite some students share there answers.

(1. Pair work: talk about your new school and use words and expressions as much as possible.

Ⅰ.Analysis of the teaching materials
[What] It is Zhu Xiaomeng's self - introduction
[Why] By studying this passage, students can know about her hobbies, summer holiday and her feeling on the first day of junior high.
[How] It is a brief self - introduction. It contains three parts: personal information, hobbies and activities and feelings.
Ⅱ. Analysis of the target students
Students have already known basic words and expressions to introduce their hobbies, personal information etc. But they have trouble in introducing themselves with correct sentences. In this lesson, they are expected to learn how to introduce themselves.

Step 2 Pre - reading
Teacher show some pictures to teach some new words and expressions.
Step3 While - reading
1. Students read the passage and complete the notes.
2. Let students try to retell the passage based on the problems with bold in activity 3.
Step 4 Post - reading
1. Pair work: Talk with pairs and try to introduce Zhu Xiaomeng with their own
(opinion / introduce themselves.
2. Write about yourself (activity 5)
3. Peer evaluation: deskmates exchange compositions and correct each other.

Hold a party (listening & speaking)
Ⅰ. Analysis of the teaching material
[What] It is about the prepation of the party.
[Why] By studying it, students can set their clear goals / wishes then make a plan.
[How] It is the whole procedure of holding a party. It mainly contains three parts: prepare, get ready and hold a party.
Ⅱ. Analysis of the target students
As freshmen of junior high school, they are not familiar with each other. So they are very interested in their classmates. But they have difficulties in knowing each other thoroughly. In this class, they can make friends and set a clear goal then make an effective plan for themselves.
Ⅲ. Teaching objectives
1. Language ability: Use the correct sentence pattern of the simple future tense to express their ideas.
2. Cultural awareness: Realize the importance of the preparation of a party.
3. Thinking capability: Develop their abilities of analysis and summary.
4. Learning ability: Express their wishes and plans(in English through group work and self-thinking.

1. Master the important vocabularies (expressions), including learn to play the piano, join a football club...

Step 2 Brainstorming
1. Teacher asks students: What do we need for a party (connect with our actual life)

2. Group work: four students work as a team to finish activity 1
3. Invite some group representatives to share their ideas.
(Step 3 Speaking
1. Set a situation: Class will have a party.

2. Students summarizes the usage and sentence pattern of the simple future tense.

Step 4 Make a "wishing tree"
1. Teacher show the picture of wishing tree, and asks a question: What party game is it
2. Students think their wishes at first. Then write them down in leaf card.
3. Group work: make a "wishing tree" for your group.
Step 5 Make a plan for wishes
1. Group work: talk about your plan with your group members.
2. Students write it down in writing notebook.
3. Teacher invites some students share their wish and plans.

1. Students summarize this lesson — Hold a party.
