Flying to the Moon
I’m so happy! Tomorrow I’ll be one of the first students to travel into space. The spaceship will leave the Earth at 9:00 a.m. It’ll take us to the Moon. I can’t wait!
The Moon is around 380,000 kilometres from the Earth, so it’ll take us about three days to get there. The gravity in space is very weak, so we’ll all be floating around in the spaceship. And we won’t sleep in beds —we’ll sleep in sleeping bags. We need to tie the sleeping bag to the wall so that we won’t float away in our sleep! Because of the low gravity, our bodies may get weak, so we’ll have to do exercise every day.
When we arrive, I’m going to walk on the Moon. The Moon has much weaker gravity than the Earth. A person weighs much less on the Moon, so we can jump very high. I’ll have to wear a spacesuit to help me breathe because there’s no air on the Moon. That also means there is no sound there. We can only hear the sounds inside our spacesuits.
The Moon is a strange and mysterious place. I’m going to take as many photos as I can. I’m sure that it’ll be a wonderful trip!
