This unit, "Family Ties", falls within the theme of "Family and Family Life" under "Self and Society". The "Understanding Ideas" section mainly consists of a film review about a father-son relationship and a diary sharing a family photo story. Through these materials, students will explore different expressions of family love, understand the significance of family relationships, and learn relevant vocabulary and grammar knowledge.
The film review presents a touching story of a father's silent love. By analyzing the film's plot and characters, students can feel the deep affection within the family. The diary, on the other hand, describes a special family moment, allowing students to understand how to use language to record and share family memories.

For irregular plural nouns, add's. For example, "the children's toys", "the men's room".

教学过程
1 Lead - in (5 minutes)
Greet the students and show some pictures of different families engaged in various activities, such as a family having a dinner together, a family playing in the park.
Ask students questions like "What can you see in the pictures " "What are these families doing " "Do you often do such activities with your family "
Then, lead to the topic of this unit - "Family Ties", and ask students to briefly share their understanding of family.
2 Pre - reading (10 minutes)
Display some new words and phrases related to family on the blackboard or through PPT, such as "silent love", "handsome", "strict", "postman", "touching", "serve as", "be absent from", etc.
Explain the meaning and usage of these words and phrases briefly. For example, when teaching "be absent from", give an example sentence "He was absent from school yesterday because he was ill."
Let students read the words and phrases aloud several times to familiarize themselves with the pronunciation.
Next, ask students some questions related to the topic of family and father, like "What do you think of your father Is he strict or kind " "What does your father do " "Do you have a good relationship with your father " Let students discuss in pairs and then share their ideas with the class.
3 While - reading (15 minutes)
Skimming:
Present the film review text on the screen. Let students read the text quickly without paying too much attention to details.
Ask students to answer the question: "What is the main idea of this film review What is the film about " Guide students to find the key sentences in the text to summarize the main idea. For example, the sentence "The film tells a story about a father's silent love for his son" can help students understand the main content.
Scanning:
Let students read the text again carefully. Present some detailed questions on the screen, such as "What does the father do in the film " "How does the son feel about his father at first " "What are the touching moments in the film "
Ask students to find the answers to these questions in the text and mark the relevant sentences. Then, invite several students to share their answers.
Analyzing the structure:
Guide students to analyze the structure of the film review. Usually, a film review includes an introduction of the film, a summary of the plot, and the reviewer's opinion.
Let students find out which paragraphs belong to each part. For example, the first paragraph may be the introduction, the middle paragraphs summarize the plot, and the last paragraph expresses the reviewer's feelings.
4 Grammar Teaching (10 minutes)
Presentation:
Use some sentences from the reading text to introduce the concept of possessive nouns. For example, "The son's growth is accompanied by the father's silent love." Write this sentence on the blackboard and underline "son's" and "father's".
Explain to students that possessive nouns are used to show possession or relationship. Then, present the rules of forming possessive nouns as mentioned in the knowledge list. Use more examples to illustrate, such as "This is my sister's room. My sister lives in this room." "The dogs' toys are in the box. These toys belong to the dogs."
Practice:
Design some exercises for students to practice. For example:
Fill in the blanks: "This is ______ (Tom) bike. He rides it to school every day." "The ______ (students) classroom is on the second floor."
Rewrite the sentences: "The book belongs to Mary. - This is ______." "The bag of the woman is very beautiful. - The ______ bag is very beautiful."

Ask students to write a short passage about their own families, using at least five new words and three possessive nouns.
Let students prepare to share their passages in the next class.
教学反思
After this class, generally speaking, students showed great interest in the topic of family. Through various activities such as picture - watching, discussion, reading, and grammar practice, most students actively participated in class and achieved certain learning results. However, there are still some aspects that need improvement.
In the grammar teaching part, although students seemed to understand the rules of possessive nouns during the practice, in the subsequent homework and class participation, some students still made mistakes in using possessive nouns. This indicates that more practical exercises and real - life examples are needed to help students firmly master this grammar point. In future teaching, I will design more context - based exercises to let students use possessive nouns in different situations.
During the reading process, some students had difficulty in quickly extracting key information. In the future, I will strengthen the training of reading strategies, such as how to find key sentences, how to skim and scan effectively, to improve students' reading efficiency.
In terms of emotional education, most students were able to understand the importance of family love through the film review, but the sharing of personal family experiences was not as in - depth as expected. Next time, I will provide more guidance and time for students to share their family stories, so as to better achieve the emotional teaching objectives.
Overall, this class has its achievements and deficiencies. I will constantly adjust my teaching methods and strategies according to students' learning situations to improve teaching quality.
