二、课时教学目标

重点:
1.Students are able to accurately extract the specific opinions of Matt and Diana on whether their friends are similar to or different from themselves from the posts.
2.Students are able to understand the words,phrases,and sentence structures used to express opinions in the posts.
3.Students are able to collect the opinions of different people on this topic.
难点:
1.Students can grasp the surface content of opinions,but must also understand the rationale behind Matt and Diana's views.
2.Students can integrate fragmented information to form a holistic understanding of both opinions.
3.Students can objectively evaluate the rationality and limitations of each opinion.
四、教学过程
Step 1 Pre-reading(1a)
Conduct a survey among students in advance to find out their definitions of good friends,record a video,and then play it for the students in class.
T:Guys,what is a good friend like Let's watch the video and find the answer.
Work on 1a
Ask students to share their similarities and differences between them and their friends.
T:Are you similar to or different from your classmates In what ways are you similar or in what ways are you different

Step 2 Reading(1b~1d)
Work on 1b
1.Ask students to read the posts and find out Matt's and Diana's opinions.
2.Check the answer in class and ask students where to find the answer from the posts.
Work on 1c
1.Ask students to read the posts again and match the people with the descriptions.
T:Who is Matt's friend Who is Diana's friend What are they like Match the five kids with the descriptions.
2.Ask students to share the answers and help to correct their mistakes if necessary.
Work on 1d
1.Ask students to read the posts again and answer the questions.
T:Now let's come to know more about them. Read the posts in groups and answer these questions.
2.Ask students to underline some key phrases and sentences according to the Chinese meaning on the PPT.

Step 3 After-reading(1e)
Work on 1e
1.Divide the class into two big groups with each group consisting of three small groups and conduct a group debate. One group supports the view that “Similarities are more important for friendship”,and the other group supports the view that “Differences are more important for friendship”.
The pro side (G1:statement,G2:supporting ideas,G3:summary)
The con side (G4:statement,G5:supporting ideas,G6:summary)
2.Ask students to discuss the question in group:what really matters in a friendship Provide each group with a large piece of poster board,coloured pens,stickers and other materials. Require each group to create a poster centred around “What really matters in a friendship”.The content of the poster board can include words,pictures,charts,etc.,and it is necessary to clearly display the key elements of a friendship and the reasons considered important by the group.
3.Ask each group to paste their poster board on the classroom wall and introduce the content of the poster board to other groups. Other groups can write comments or supplementary opinions beside each poster board,and finally the whole class summarizes the most recognized key elements of a friendship.

1.Recite the passage and do related exercises.
