Read these words and try to figure out the pronunciation rule.

1. Listen to the audio and read the following sentence. Pay attention to the pronunciation of the letters in brackets.
2. Summarize the rule of loss of plosion.
Loss of plosion
When two plosive consonants (e.g. /t/, /d/, /p/, /b/, /k/ or /G/) are next to each other, we do not pronounce the first one, and there is usually a short pause between them. We call this the loss of plosion.
3. Let’s play a game!
Mark the missing letters:
Read the words below aloud. When you come to a sound that loses it plosion (e.g. the G in “bi(g) dog”), make a “Stop!” sign with your hand.
