Think and share
People in different countries or areas say hello in different ways. Here are some of the ways people say hello.
In England people shake hands and say “How do you do ” when they meet for the first time.
In France people kiss each other on the cheeks when they say hello and goodbye.
In South America people hug each other and slap each other on the back.
In Japan men and boys bow with their hands at their sides.
In India people put their palms together near the heart and bow or nod. This is how they say hello.
