Before the light bulb, people relied on candles and oil lamps, which were dim, dangerous, and inefficient. Homes and workplaces needed a safer, brighter, and more reliable light source.
Thomas Edison found the answer by creating a long-lasting electric light bulb. Unlike previous attempts, his design used a carbonized bamboo filament inside a vacuum glass bulb, allowing it to glow for hours without burning out.
Edison, a curious and determined American inventor, spent years experimenting with different materials. He tested over 6,000 substances before discovering the perfect filament. His persistence revolutionized modern lighting.
The bulb was made of a glass enclosure, a carbon filament, and metal wires. By combining these with electricity, Edison produced steady, bright light.
When electric current passes through the filament, it heats up and emits light. The vacuum inside the bulb prevents oxidation, making the bulb last longer.
