一、 基本含义与作用
词性： 并列连词
含义： 不仅……而且……
功能： 用于连接两个语法功能相同的并列成分，如单词、短语或句子，表示后者比前者意义更进一步。
强调重点： 重点在 but also 后面的部分。
She is not only clever but also hard-working.
她不仅聪明，而且努力。（强调“努力”）
二、 连接不同的并列成分
not only 和 but also 后面所连接的成分必须对等（即结构一致）。
1. 连接两个主语
Not only my mother but also my father loves music.
不仅我妈妈，而且我爸爸也喜欢音乐。
注意： 谓语动词的单复数要遵循 “就近原则”，即与 but also 后面的主语 (my father) 保持一致，所以用 loves。
2. 连接两个谓语
She not only sings well but also dances beautifully.
她不仅唱得好，而且跳得美。
He not only said it but also did it.
他不仅说了，而且做了。
3. 连接两个宾语
I like not only apples but also oranges.
我不仅喜欢苹果，而且也喜欢橘子。
He can speak not only English but also French.
他不仅会说英语，还会说法语。
4. 连接两个表语
She is not only a teacher but also a writer.
她不仅是一位老师，而且是一位作家。
It is not only interesting but also meaningful.
它不仅有趣，而且有意义。
5. 连接两个状语
He does his homework not only quickly but also carefully.
他做作业不仅快，而且认真。
She will go not only to Beijing but also to Shanghai.
她不仅要去北京，而且要去上海。
三、 常见省略与变形
省略 also： 在口语或非正式文体中，also 经常被省略，只剩下 not only... but...。
She is not only clever but hard-working.
but... as well 替换： 可以用 but... as well 来替换 but also，意思不变。
She is not only clever but hard-working as well.
四、 倒装句（重点与难点）
当 Not only 放在句首以示强调时，其后面的主句必须使用部分倒装（即疑问句语序）。but also 后面的句子语序不变。
正常语序：
He not only likes reading but also likes sports.
倒装语序（Not only 放句首）：
Not only does he like reading, but he also likes sports.
（注意：does he like 是部分倒装，即把助动词does提前）
倒装规则：
确定原句的时态和谓语动词。
根据时态和主语，在 not only 部分加上相应的助动词 (do, does, did, have, has, will, can 等)，并将助动词提到主语前面，主要动词变回原形。
but also 部分语序不变。
例句：
正常： She is not only a teacher but also a writer.
倒装： Not only is she a teacher, but she is also a writer.
正常： I not only heard it but also saw it.
倒装： Not only did I hear it, but I also saw it.
对七年级学生的建议：
倒装句是一个拔高内容。首先要掌握好正常语序的用法。在学有余力的情况下，尝试理解和模仿倒装句，这会让你的英语表达更出色。
五、 总结与记忆口诀
结构对称是核心： not only A but also B，A和B的结构要一样（都是名词，或都是动词等）。
主谓就近要记清： 连接主语时，动词单复数由B（即but also后面的主语）决定。
倒装句首Not only： 如果把Not only提到句首，后面句子要倒装（助动词提前）。
口诀：
“Not only, but also， 并列成分两边靠。
主语连接谓就近， 句首倒装要记牢。”
