Different people celebrate the New Year in different ways. Here are some special and fun New Year traditions from around the world.
China
On Chinese New Year ’s Day, the whole family gets
together for a reunion dinner. The elders give the
children lucky money, wishing them safety and health.
Thailand
Thai people call their new year Songkran. It is on the 13th of April. This is one of the hottest months in Thailand! People celebrate the New Year with street parties and even giant water fights.
Spain
When the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, the
Spanish eat 12 grapes, one for each month of the year.
Eating all 12 grapes is believed to bring good luck.
Ecuador
Some people walk around the block with an empty suitcase on New Year’s Eve. This shows that the next year will be full of adventures.

(1)长难句分析：这是一个简单句。动名词短语Eating all 12 grapes 作主语，谓语为is believed, 是被动语态，to bring good luck表示“带来好运”这一结果。
(2) be believed to 被认为...
e.g. Birds are widely believed to have evolved from dinosaurs.
鸟类普遍被认为是从恐龙进化而来的。
5. This shows that the next year will be full of adventures.
(1)that the next year will be full of adventures是宾语从句
(2)be full of=be filled with 充满……
e.g. The glass is full of water.=The glass is filled with water.
