A
Our brains are amazing. They are like a super-powerful computer inside our heads. They help us think, learn, and remember. But what exactly happens in our brains when we learn new things
When you learn something new, like a new word or a math problem, your brain makes new connections between its cells (细胞). These connections are like tiny pathways. The more you practice or think about something, the stronger and faster these pathways become. This is why practicing a musical instrument or solving math problems repeatedly makes you better at them. Your brain is building stronger pathways!
Sleep also plays a very important role in learning. When you sleep, your brain doesn’t just rest. It works to sort through the information you learned during the day. It moves important information from temporary (临时的) storage to more permanent storage. This process helps you remember things better and longer. So, getting enough sleep is crucial for effective learning.
Additionally, our brains are not just for thinking. They also help us with our emotions. When we feel happy, sad, or angry, different parts of our brain become active. Learning to understand and manage our emotions is a skill that also involves our brains. This emotional intelligence helps us interact with others and deal with challenges in life.
Learning new things can also change our brains physically. This is called brain plasticity (大脑可塑性). It means our brains can adapt and change throughout our lives, even as we get older. This shows that we can always keep learning and growing. So, keep challenging your brain with new information and experiences, and it will keep adapting and strengthening!

①Why do we dream Well, scientists have different ideas, but there’s no clear answer. Dreaming is pretty strange. When we dream, we see things that aren’t real, believe things that can’t happen, and mix the people we know. And the funny thing is, we usually forget all about it when we wake up.
②Memory storage (存储) could be one reason why we dream. When we sleep, our brain decides which things we should remember for a long time and which things we should forget. There was a study in 2010 where people learned how to get out of a maze (迷宫). Scientists found that those who took some sleep and dreamed about the maze did much better at solving it.
③Dreams might also help us deal with our feelings. In 2003, some scientists did a study. They looked at the diaries and dream records of 29 young adults over two weeks. Scientists found that sometimes, the dreams reflected (反映) the emotions that the young adults had during the day. So maybe dreams help us deal with our feelings and remember them better.
④Another idea is that dreams prepare us for difficult situations. There’s a scientist named Antti Revonsuo who talked about this. He studied the bad dreams of kids, like being chased (追赶) by wolves. He thinks these dreams might be like practice for dealing with risks in life. Nowadays, dreams can prepare us for things like having an argument with someone or having a job interview.
⑤Anyway, with all these different ideas about dreaming, we still don’t have all the answers. We still need to do more research to understand why we dream.

Computers may be able to help us in more ways. Recent research has showed a new computer program that can learn human emotions (情感).
Researchers asked a group of people to type (打字) two paragraphs from Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice in Wonderland. The people then chose an emotional state they felt while typing. Moods tested were joy, fear, anger, sadness, disgust, shame and guilt. Then the researchers put the text into the computer to study. Surprisingly, the computer was right 70 percent of the time in telling their emotional states. The most correct emotions it guessed were joy (87 percent) and anger (81 percent). The least accurate emotion the computer guessed was sadness (60 percent). The researchers found that the people were hardly typing when they were in a bad mood, which may explain the inexactness of the second result.
However, the findings could have great importance for artificial intelligence (人工智能), and it may allow computers to get along with us in a friendlier manner. “If we could build any system that is intelligent enough to communicate with humans—that is, it can identify users’ emotions and change its behavior accordingly, then using machines could be more effective and friendly.” the researchers wrote in study. For example, when looking for a movie online, perhaps a computer program could make suggestions for films that would match your mood. And as the researchers said, this kind of computer program could also help humans in a number of ways. First, with online teaching, emotionally intelligent computers could change its teaching style to help students learn better. Second, with online talking, doctors were able to tell the emotion of a patient.

Good morning, everybody!
Today I want to talk about “How to Be Happy”. The following are my suggestions.
First of all, it’s important to keep healthy. Without good health, we will have nothing. So we should form good life habits, eat good food and try our best to take exercise every day. Next, we should have some hobbies. When we have hobbies, we can spend our free time doing things we like. And our life will be busy but meaningful. Finally, I think happiness springs from helping others. When we help those in trouble, we must know what we can do and who we can help. I believe that if we do so, we can have a happy life.
That’s what I want to share with you. Thank you!
