(2025徐州新沂期中)Can dogs and cats get along well in the same home People who are thinking about getting a dog as a friend for their cat are worried that they will fight. A study finds that if the cat is brought home before the dog, and both animals are introduced when they are still young(less than 6 months for cats and less than a year for dogs), it is highly possible that the two pets will get along well. In two thirds of the homes cats and dogs have a good relationship.
However, it wasn't all sweetness and light. There was coldness between the cat and dog in 25% of the homes, while aggression(好斗) and fighting were found in 10% of the homes. One reason for this is probably that some of their body language is just different. For example, when a cat turns its head away it means aggression while a dog doing the same means submission(顺从).
In homes with cats and dogs living peacefully, researchers found something surprising. They are learning how to “speak” each other's language. It is a surprise that the cats can learn how to talk “Dog”， and the dogs can learn how to talk “Cat”．
What's interesting is that both cats and dogs have appeared to become smarter. They can learn to read each other's body language, showing that the two may have more in common(共同的) than we thought. (2025盐城亭湖期末)Fish babies in space In a space study on zebrafish, Chinese had a new record. They successfully got four zebrafish to live and grow in a closed water world.
The zebrafish went to China's space station on the Shenzhou 18 spaceship on April 25. They then lived in a closed fish tank(鱼缸) with some plants. The fish grew up and had babies in 43 days.
In their special closed water world, the plants made air for the fish and the fish's waste(排泄物) gave the plants food. The scientists gave the fish food through a special needle(针管).
Such a closed loop ecosystem(封闭生态系统) is important for future study in space. It means that plants and animals can live in space more simply and easily.
The scientists also found that the zebrafish acted differently from how they did on earth. For example, they often swam on their back. The low gravity(重力) in space is a big reason. On earth, gravity pulls everything to the earth's centre, and animals can find their way easily. Gravity also makes their bodies work harder and become stronger.
Humans and zebrafish share 70% of the same genes(基因). So the new finding will help scientists better understand human health.

“Just wait a moment，” he answered. “After this week of good weather followed by last night's storm, I thought there might be some good birds，” he said.
“Really？” I asked.
A smile played over Mike's face. “Yes, osprey(鱼鹰)，” he said very quietly.
“What？” I shouted.
“Osprey, and we'd better keep it secret，” he said again. I sat looking at him with my mouth open.
An osprey is a big hunting bird and catches fish. There weren't any in Britain. In 1954 a pair nested(筑巢) in Scotland. A society protected them well because lots of people wanted osprey eggs for their collections.
Mike continued(继续), “So, shall we go birdwatching tomorrow morning？”
“But are you sure it'll be there？” I asked.
