1、Some people think that friends should be alike.
【解析】
alike 形容词;“相似的,相像的”,常作表语,不能用于名词前作定语。
The two sisters look very much alike.(这两姐妹长得很像。)
可以做副词,The twins even dress alike. (这对双胞胎甚至穿得都一样。)
【常见搭配】
①“be alike in”表示“在……方面相似”。
The two bikes are alike in color.(颜色相似。)
②“look alike”指的是“看起来相像”。
They look alike, but they have different personalities.(他们看起来相像,性格不同。)

(1)because of 因为;由于。
【辨析】because 与because of
because of 介词短语,后接表示原因的名词、代词或动词-ing形式,不能引导从句
because 连词,引导原因状语从句,后接句子
My sister didn’t go to school today because of her illness. 今天我妹妹因为生病没有去上学。
= My sister didn’t go to school today because she was ill .
We didn't play badminton because of the heavy rain.(因为大雨,我们没打羽毛球。)
=We didn’t paly badminton because it rained heavily.
hard作adj.时,意为“困难的;艰苦的,硬的,努力的;”;作adv.时,意为“努力地;猛烈地”。
This math problem is very hard for the little boy. 对小男孩来说,这数学题太难了。
He works hard every day.(他每天努力工作。)
It was raining hard when we set off.(我们出发时,雨下得很大)。
3.Thanks to her, I am becoming more outgoing.
【解析】
thanks to多亏;由于。表示原因,可与because of或with the help of进行转换。
Thanks to you help, we finished the work on time. 多亏了你的帮助,我们才按时完成了任务。

①thanks to:表示“多亏;由于”,
Thanks to you, I am not lost. 幸亏你我才没迷路。
②thanks for:意为“因……而感谢”,用于表达对某人所做某事的感激之情。

4.Now I think meeting new people is really fun.
【解析】
(1)“I think + 后接句子”为主从复合句结构,“I think”是主句,后面句子是一个宾语从句,用来表达说话者的观点、想法或看法。
①其否定句,通常将否定词转移到主句的“think”上,即“否定前移”。
I don't think it will snow tomorrow.(我认为明天不会下雪。)
错误句子:I think it will not snow tomorrow.
②一般疑问句,将“think”的助动词提前到句首。
Do you think he will come here (你认为他会来这里吗?)
meeting new people在从句中,是动名词作主语,此时谓语动词用第三人称单数形式。

What really matters in a friendship
【解析】
(1)matter作名词,
①表示“事情;问题”,用于句型“What's the matter with sb.”,用来询问“某人怎么了?出什么事了?”
What's the matter with you? 你怎么了?
②意为“物质”,是不可数名词。
Matter exists in three states: solid, liquid and gas.(物质以三种状态存在:固态、液态和气态。)
③表示“重要性”,用于短语“no matter”,可单独使用,也可引导让步状语从句。
No matter, we can go there another day.(没关系,我们可以改天去那儿。)
No matter what you say, I won't believe you.(无论你说什么,我都不会相信你。)
(2)matter作动词, 意为“事关要紧;有关系影响,有重大”,通常用于否定句和疑问句。
It doesn't matter if you are late.(你迟到没关系。)
Does it matter what I wear (我穿什么要紧吗?)
When I feel bad or have a problem,she makes me laugh and feel better.
【解析】
make sb. do sth.使某人做某事,接不带to的不定式作宾语补足语。
She made me stay with her. 她让我和她待在一起。
【拓展】
make sb./sth. +形容词,"使某人(感到)……;使某物……",此时形容词作宾语补足语。
The news makes me sad. 这个消息让我伤心。
(2)make sb. + 名词,表示"使某人成为……",名词作宾语补足语。
We made him captain. 我们选他当队长。
(3)make sb. + 过去分词,表示"使某人……被",动词的过去分词作宾语补足语,有被动含义,翻译成主动语态形式,sb.可以是反身代词。
She spoke aloud to make herself heard.
她大声说话,以使别人能听到她。
A true friend reaches for you and touches your heart.
【解析】 reach 伸手,到达,实现
He reached out his hand to touch her 他伸手去触摸她。
【辨析】
reach+地点 I reached Shandong last night. 我昨天晚上到达山东。
get to+地点 I got to Shanhai last night. 我昨天晚上到达上海。
arrive in+大地点 at+小地点 I arrived in Shanghai last night. 我昨晚到上海。 I arrived at Shanghai airport last night. 我昨晚到达上海机场。
【注意】当地点为here,there,home之类的副词时,get to 和 arrive in arrive at要省略后面的介词。

It’s hard when a best friend isn’t around — maybe because you move to a different school or a different class. You may feel lonely at break (课间) or lunchtime. You want to have new friends, but how do you make them
Start by looking around your classroom. Think about which kids you’d like to play with at break. Say hi to them, smile, and be friendly. Ask them to enjoy something or talk with them about something they may be interested in. Invite someone to play with you or ask “Do you want to sit here ” in the lunchroom. When you’re at break, walk to kids you want to play with, and say “Hi, can I play, too ” or just join in.
If you are feeling shy (害羞), ask your teacher to help you make new friends. Teachers are usually good at matching up friends. The best way to make friends is to be a friend. Be kind, be friendly, say nice things and help others — soon you’ll have one, or two, or even more new friends.
