Starting a book club is easy—all you need is to love reading. Here’s how to make yours get off to a flying start.
When you set up your book club, the first thing is to find members for your club. They could be friends, family, or those you know through other activities, but they should all love to read. A small group of seven to ten people is usually an ideal size for a book club. ①
Once you have a group, agree on how often you want to meet—usually clubs meet monthly. Pick a date and stick with (坚持) it. That way, members can easily plan for it. Send out emails a week before the meeting to give people a written reminder (书面提醒). Set the meeting time length. An hour is a good start. Two hours usually does the trick. ②
Then, you need a good place. Libraries, parks, and restaurants—all make good meeting places. For many clubs, homes are the best place because you don’t have to get dressed up, and noisy public places can make meetings hard. If members bring a plate of food or a bottle of drink, it can help start talking. ③
Please don’t forget the most important thing—the books. Think about the books your club will enjoy. Fiction Non-fiction Your club can choose books in different ways. You can take turns to recommend books. Let everyone vote on which book to read. Anyway, make sure to keep it light and fun. ④
After all these have been decided, your book club is ready. Now, it is time to start the first meeting. Enjoy your reading.

You may hear an Australian man survived (存活;幸存) a crocodile attack (袭击) by poking (戳) it in the eye. But is that the best way to deal with such a big and dangerous animal
Going for the eyes is like the number one way to try to survive this. Around the eyes is also the ear right behind the eye. And so if you miss (错过) the eye, there is a chance that you can cause (引起) them some pain (疼痛) by hitting (撞击) them and striking (击打) them in the eardrum (耳膜).
You shouldn’t prove (证明) you are more powerful than them. If they feel a danger to them, they will withdraw (撤退). Does that also apply (适用) to a bear or a snake or other wild animal attacks
The answer is “Yes”. You control (控制) the head, and then you control the animal. Don’t care how big it is, you go for its eyes, its nose, its throat. These things can’t be protected because they have to be exposed (无遮蔽的).

At an office in San Francisco, if you drop a coffee cup in a robotic (像机器人的) waste bin, the bin will sort (分类) the cup for recycling (回收). The office called TrashBot is the first to use the bin. Record-setting robot
Hong Kong students create the world’s smallest humanoid robot
香港学生打造世界最小的人形机器人
Four students at Diocesan Boys’ School in Hong Kong broke a Guinness world record (吉尼斯世界纪录). They made the smallest humanoid robot in the world! The robot is just 141 millimeters (毫米) tall. That’s shorter than a pen. Students Aaron Ho Yat Fung, Isaac Zachary To, Justin Wang Tou Duong and Ngo Hei Leung made it.
Why did they make the robot
Many kids today use robots to learn programming (编程). But the robots are usually big and expensive. This means that poor families can’t get them. Their homes are too small for the big robots, said 16-year-old Leung. To help more people learn about robots, they decided to make a much smaller one.
How did they make the robot
The students 3D-printed parts in their school’s robotics lab (实验室) for the robot. It can walk on two legs and move its shoulders, elbows (肘), knees and hips (臀部).
What challenges did they come across
Making a small robot walk like a human isn’t easy. The small space between its joints (关节) makes walking hard enough. Also, because it’s a bit top-heavy, it can easily fall over, said 16-year-old Duong. So, they tried different shapes (形状) and sizes and ended up with a flat rectangular design (扁平矩形设计). They also found that the first battery (电池) they wanted to use was too big and heavy for the robot. So they used a smaller battery in the end. They spent six months to make the robot.
