If you have a dog, you probably feel a strong connection with it. A recent study found that this connection may not only be important to kids, but it may also be important to dogs.
Researchers at Oregon State University studied the relationship between kids and dogs. To do the study, they found 30 young people aged 8 to 17 who had dogs.
The kids were asked to bring their dogs to an empty(空的)room. In the room, a kid was asked to walk around the huge space, sometimes stopping or changing his way. "And the dog was left to do whatever the dog wanted to do. It could run around the room, play with other dogs or lie down and take a short rest," says Monique Udell, one of the study's researchers.
But most of the time, the dog didn t do any of those things. Instead, it stayed close to its owner and moved similarly to its owner. When the kid walked, the dog usually walked too. When the kid stopped, the dog stopped. When the kid turned and changed his way, so did the dog. The dog did this far more often than you might have expected.
What does this mean Udell explains that this is a dog's way of building a relationship with a human. "Dogs always stay close to kids, even though adults are usually the ones who feed and care for them. The kid may play the role of a brother or a sister in the life of the dog," Udell says. "This shows that the relationship between kids and dogs is of great importance to the dogs." So far, Udell's team's study has just paid attention to dogs. However, the researchers would like to do similar studies with cats and other kinds of pets. Udell wonders if the animal-human connection is important to other kinds of pets as well.
23.What's the purpose of paragraph 1
A. To ask a question. B. To give an example.
C. To show the writer's opinion. D. To bring out the topic.
24.Put the things that happened in the study in the correct order.

b.The kids were asked to enter the empty room.
c.Researchers chose 30 young people with dogs.
d.A kid did things that the researchers asked him to do.
A. b-c-d-a B. c-b-a-d C. c-b-d-a D. b-a-d-c
25.The underlined part “so did the dog” means "________".
A. the dog ran around the room
B. the dog stayed away from the kid
C. the dog lay down and took a break
D. the dog turned and changed its way too
26.What can we infer from the last paragraph
A. Udell's team will study other pets.
B. Udell's team will only study dogs.
C. Udell's team has trouble studying dogs.
D. Udell's team has also learned about cats.
