录音稿
Text 1
W: Do you know if this train stops at the Carlisle Street stop
M: There’s a route map over there by the door.
Text 2
W: Wow, that opera singer is fantastic! I could listen to him all night.
M: No, not me. I prefer rock music. This guy is kind of boring even more so than jazz singers. I bet my mum would like him, though.
Text 3
W: Can’t we just wait and go shopping tomorrow I’m too tired to go today. The sale will still be happening.
M: Tomorrow is Monday. We both have to work and the store will be closed by the time we can get there.
Text 4
W: What kind of ice cream would you like, chocolate or milk
M: Neither. Thank you. I like them both but right now all I want is some water.
Text 5
W: I would have come back a week earlier, but the weather was so bad that we couldn’t travel.
M: That’s a real pity. The festival lasted two weeks, and it just finished yesterday.
Text 6
M: I’ve noticed that you always have a lot of fun. How do you do it
W: On the weekend, if the weather permits, I’ll go camping with my family. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time
M: I’ll go to karaoke at night for entertainment.
W: Good. I know you have a talent for singing songs.
M: Oh thanks. And this winter, I’m going to take the skiing classes.
W: Great. I’m so excited to see your good performances.
Text 7
M: Where are you going, Mrs Green
W: We’re going to the subway station first. We have to catch the train at 4 o’clock.
M: There are only 30 minutes left. Today is Friday, and there may be a traffic jam. You should have left home a bit earlier.
W: That’s why we are choosing the subway. Tommy is always slow, you know. We often have to wait for him.
M: But your son is very cute.
W: Thanks!
M: I guess you’re leaving for Washington to see Tommy’s grandparents
W: Yes, they miss Tommy very much, so we’ll take him to see them.
M: Please remember to send my regards to them.
W: OK, I will. There is no more time for chatting. See you next weekend.
M: Have a nice trip.
Text 8
W: The heavy workload among primary school students has been a topic of a national concern.
M: Yes, especially during vacation time, they have a lot of homework and have to go to extra classes. My sister signs my niece Joy up for three extra classes on weekdays, and that number doubles during the holiday.
W: But in fact, a heavy study burden can limit students’ creativity and damage their health.
M: Everyone knows that, but they do it anyway. Happily, a lot of parents have started lessening the pressure on kids.
W: I usually give my students less homework, which I think is better than not being able to hand it in on time or copying it.
M: So do I. Most parents are very anxious about their children’s study, but actually, it is more important to develop children’s interest in study.
W: And let them develop good study habits, which can benefit all their lives. Oh, let’s discuss it after work. I have to give a class now.
Text 9
W: Mike, you’re studying snakes all around the world. So, you have to travel a lot. Do you ever take holidays
M: No, not often. My work is also my hobby. I’ve been to Paris, Rome and Egypt, but it was always because my work took me there. For my last trip, I went to Sudan to look for snakes.
W: But you must take a holiday sometimes.
M: Well, once or twice I have travelled to some places not connected with snakes. For example, I spent a holiday in Hawaii with some friends. They enjoyed the beach and the markets while I went swimming underwater with my underwater camera.
W: Is your camera the most important thing when you travel
M: Yes, my camera and my sleeping bag. I can sleep anywhere I want.
W: So, do you ever stay in hotels
M: If I go with friends, I might stay at a hotel or a guest house. But normally I’m on my own, so I rarely book a hotel in advance. I can fall asleep in a sleeping bag anytime and anywhere.
Text 10
M: Hey, everyone, here is the latest weather report for you and your family. This morning, we’re seeing the sun with cloudy periods, as well as a little snow. Right now, I am at the top of Mount Raven, where it is two degrees and is expected to rise to about five degrees by noon. Overnight temperatures will probably drop to at least seven degrees below zero. Alaska is a cold place, but you’re probably used to it by now! Tomorrow’s forecast calls for more snow with a high of zero and a low of twelve degrees below zero. Conditions are perfect for skiing this weekend, but I wouldn’t want to be playing out in this cold. If you’re heading out to the mountains tomorrow, please remember to dress warmly to avoid getting sick. Next Monday is going to be a lot warmer, so maybe then it would be a good time to take the family out. Well, we’ll go back to the news room now for a look at what’s happening in sports, and stay tuned for a speech from the president this afternoon at 5:00 pm. Take care, folks!

第一节
One possible version:
Dear David,
I’m sorry to hear that you have been worrying about your health recently. I would like to share my opinions about how to keep healthy with you.
Firstly, it is critical to have a balanced diet, which will make us strong and energetic. Besides, enough sleep is of equal importance, because it will allow our body to readjust and gain energy for the next day. Only when we have adequate sleep can we get fully refreshed. In addition, proper exercise is supposed to be done. Taking exercise will build up our strength and get us relaxed.
I sincerely hope my advice will be helpful to you.
Yours,
Li Hua

Oreo and I headed back upstairs.
I discovered that my house had been damaged(毁坏) by a fallen tree. The tree knocked a big hole in the roof right above my bed. If I had been on that bed, I could have been killed(虚拟语气). I felt so relieved and happy that I couldn’t hide my tears(结果状语从句). Thank goodness that Oreo had sensed the coming storm and woken me up. That old cat saved my life! Most kids can walk into a library or bookstore and find hundreds of books to read. But it’s not that simple for kids who are blind. They read in a different way. Jenny Lee and other braille (盲文) transcribers take the printed words of a book and change them into a code of raised dots. Blind people can read these dots with their fingers. To know what braille feels like, take a ballpoint pen and press it hard onto a piece of paper. Now turn the paper over and touch the raised dot made by the pen point.
When Lee first saw the dots of the braille alphabet, she wondered if she’d ever be able to read and write them easily. She took a class and practised hard for about six months before she passed the final exam: she had to convert 35 pages of a book into braille. Today, Lee works for a publisher. One of her jobs is to change children’s books into braille.
To do this, Lee first types the story into a computer and then uses a computer program to translate it into the braille code. Next, she looks over the translation several times to make sure it’s mistake-free. After that, a copy of the braille story is printed with a special printer. Then Lee and a proofreader work together to find and correct any mistakes. When a book is ready, many copies of it are printed. Afterwards, some are sold through websites and others are sent to libraries.
Sometimes, going over a story again and again gets tiring. That’s when Lee takes a break. Several of Jenny Lee’s co-workers, who are blind, use guide dogs. When the animals aren’t working, Lee likes spending a few minutes with them. To her, playing with dogs “is always a pick-me-up in the middle of the day”.
“I love this mission,” Lee says. “Through my brain power and my fingers, I am putting the dots into some kids’ hands.”
( )24.How does the writer explain what braille feels like
A.By explaining what braille words look like.
B.By describing how blind people read books.
C.By asking readers to experience it themselves.
D.By giving examples of different braille words.
( )25.What was Lee’s first reaction to braille
A.She was excited to get a new skill.
B.She was amazed at the clever idea.
C.She realized she could teach it herself.
D.She believed it would be difficult to learn.

Anyone who’s lived through middle school knows those years can be particularly challenging. Some research shows the youth across the US are struggling with mental health. The physical health benefits of bike riding have been well-documented. Wilson, a researcher at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, and his co-authors carried out a new study to see if taking part in a cycling programme could result in measurable changes in mind for teenagers.
The study involved more than 1,200 students aged 11 to 14. Students participated in a cycling class for at least three days a week, for a period of 6 weeks. They learned cycling safety and manoeuvring(控制) skills outdoors while raising their heart rate and just having fun. The students completed standardized questionnaires before and after the programme designed to measure their health.
“We know cycling can benefit the body. Our research shows how it benefits the mind and social relationships as well. Bike riding can be an ideal activity for adolescents because of the benefits it offers,” said Wilson.
“Cycling engages several parts of brain function. You are looking at your hearing, you’re balancing, you’re navigating and turning. Oftentimes, you’re doing it with someone else, so there’s the positive effect of company or group activity,” said Allan Reiss, a professor at Stanford University School of Medicine.
While exercise has powerful mental health benefits, it’s not universal. For example, previous research has shown that teenage girls are at higher risk of mental health problems like depression and anxiety than boys. The current study found that, while middle school girls reported increased well-being after participating in the cycling programme, that increase “may just reach the kind of baseline level for male students”, Wilson said. And other aspects of healthy living are also important, noted Wilson. The study found that teenagers who didn’t limit screen time to a maximum of two hours a day, or who got less than the recommended 8.5 hours of sleep, saw less improvement in their well-being, he said.

While it may sound like something that has crawled out of your nightmares, cyborg cockroaches (蟑螂) have arrived as friends rather than foes. Scientists have designed a new remote controlled insect, equipped with a battery “backpack” that is powered by solar panels.
The cockroach, which is part insect and part machine, is intended to enter dangerous areas, monitor the environment or undertake search and rescue missions without being recharged. The researchers had to install some components into a tiny pack to allow for the cockroach’s natural movements.
The cockroaches are still alive, but sensory organs attached to the end of their bodies send electrical impulses that cause the insects to move right or left. A battery is necessary for the sending and receiving of these electrical signals, which needs to be charged up. While it’s possible to build docking stations for recharging the battery, they need to return and it could disrupt time-sensitive missions. To solve the tough problem, the team wanted to create a more practical version that does not need to return to a docking station when it runs out of power.
Therefore, they designed an on-board solar cell that could continuously ensure that the cockroach stays charged while it works. However, the cockroach has a limited surface area available for all the components necessary to move its legs and keep it powered. The solution was to design a special “backpack” that could neatly carry both the wireless leg-control module and rechargeable battery. This was attached to the top of the insect on its front, and was 3D printed to fit perfectly to the curved surface of the cockroach. It allowed this electronic device to be stably fixed on the insect for over a month, while leaving enough space to implant the solar panel.
Famously able to survive a nuclear war, cockroaches have been the inspiration for a number of technologies in recent years. Different teams of scientists have designed remote-controlled robo-bugs that can climb walls, carry objects and find humans during search-and-rescue missions.

Toy Story, Cars, Finding Nemo, Wall-E, Up—you have probably watched all these films. 36. Let’s go through the processes of creating a cartoon film.
Creating the storyboard
The first step is to write down the main ideas of the story. 37. Based on the storyboard, the art department creates the first draft for the characters, their clothing and emotions, and the design sets.
Making characters using 3D modelling
A special computer program is used to create 3D shapes of the characters, sets and props—this is called modelling. 38. Special equipment is used to record points on these shapes. This information is then sent to a software program which recreates the 3D shapes.
Making them move
The layout crew (摄影构图组) decide how these characters should move and then the cartoonists take over. They use 3D software to create the movements of each character, the skeleton’s (骨架) movements, facial expressions and more, among key frames (帧) in the story. 39.
Dressing up for the show
The sets and props are “dressed” according to the designs laid out by the art department. The skin and hair for the characters, their costumes as well as special lighting effects such as shadows, shining reflections are also created.
Letting the show begin
40. The computers draw each frame one by one, with each frame slightly different from the previous one. Each frame takes 5—6 hours to create—imagine how much computing power and time it will take to create 24 frames per second of a 2-hour film!
A.From that, storyboards are drawn.
B.All these films have cost a large amount of money.
C.Remember too, that the movements have to be smooth!
D.Some of these shapes are simple, but some are very complex.
E.The decorations of the sets and props are created using software.
F.Have you ever wondered how these amazing cartoon films were made
G.All the 3D characters, their movements, and lighting are to be done by computers.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Cats are a mysterious kind of animal—there is more passing in their minds than we know of. I can’t agree more with this because of my recent experience.
It was the Sunday before Labour Day, and I was tired after spending the day on a picnic in a relative’s garden. I looked out of the window before climbing onto bed. Stars filled the night sky, and crickets(蟋蟀) gently sang in the darkness. All seemed right with the world.
My big, old black-and-white cat, Oreo, lay on the foot of my bed where he slept every night, keeping my feet warm. I climbed onto bed and immediately fell into deep sleep.
I had just fallen asleep when Oreo woke me up by walking over my stomach. I looked at the bedside clock: 3:10 am. I had no idea why Oreo was troubling me. He’d never done that before unless I overslept in the morning, but that usually happened at 8:00 am, not in the middle of the night.
I pushed Oreo off me, rolled over and pulled the blanket (毯子) over my head. But Oreo didn’t stop. He stepped on my head and began to make noises loudly. “Oreo,”I said. “Go back to sleep.”
But Oreo wouldn’t stop. He kept walking on my stomach and legs, continuing to trouble me. Suddenly, there was a crash of thunder (雷), and I sat up on the bed and looked out of the window. Lightning filled the sky. Strong winds blew through the window. Rain started to come down hard, making it almost impossible to see the trees in the yard. Soon the wind was picking up and the branches of the trees were moving violently(强烈地).A terrible storm had started.
Seeing the sight, I was struck with horror. Thinking that it was not safe to stay in the house, I climbed out of bed, put on my clothes, and held Oreo in my arms.
注意:续写词数应为150个左右。
Paragraph 1:
We headed for the basement (地下室).

Paragraph 2:
I discovered that my house had been damaged (毁坏)by a fallen tree.
