My Favourite Dish: Guoqiao Rice Noodles
@thechinesechefblog Long ago, there was a couple living in Yunnan Province, China. The husband studied on an island far from his home. When his wife went a long way to send meals, the food always got cold. One day, the wife boiled some chicken soup and used a large pot to keep it warm. And she kept the ingredients separate. She put the ingredients into the soup when she reached the island, and she found everything still hot. The Guoqiao Rice Noodles was born!

2. Long ago, there was a couple living in Yunnan Province, China. 很久以前，中国云南省有一对夫妇。
(1) there be+sb/sth+doing sth 意为“有某人/某物正在做某事”，是there be句型的进行时。
There are many children playing in the field. 有很多孩子正在运动场上玩耍。
There is a girl singing under the tree. 树下有个女孩正在唱歌。
【拓展】“there must be sb/sth doing sth+地点状语”表示“某地一定有某人/某物正在做某事”。
There must be a child crying in the room. 房间里肯定有个小孩在哭。

(2) couple作名词，意为“夫妻；两人；两件事物”。the couple 意指“夫妻二人”，作主语时，谓语动词用单复数均可。a couple of 意为“一对；一双；一些；几个”。
The couple seemed to be very happy. 那对夫妇看上去极其幸福。
The couple was/were married in 2006. 这对夫妻在2006年结的婚。
We went there a couple of years ago. 我们几年前去过那里。
You’ll be all right in a couple of days. 过几天你就会好的。

【辨析】separate与divide
separate: 指把原来混合在一起的人或物“分隔”开，常与from搭配。
divide: 指把整体“划分”为若干部分，常与into搭配。　　
Tony, please separate the big apples from the small ones. 托尼，请把大苹果和小苹果分开。
The apple is divided into two parts. 这个苹果被分成两部分。

born作动词，意为“出生；出世”。be born意为“出生；出世”。此短语为被动语态，当说明某(些)人的出生情况时，be动词通常用was或were。

SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE
Ingredients: 1 pound dried spaghetti, 1 pound beef, 1 onion, 2 pieces of garlic, 1 can of tomatoes, 1 cup of cheese
Instructions:
● First, cut up the onion and garlic. Put them in a pot.
● Next, for the sauce, add the beef to the pot and cook until it changes colour.
● After that, add the tomatoes and cook for 30 minutes.
● Then, cook the spaghetti until it is ready.
● Finally, put the spaghetti on a plate and pour the beef and tomato sauce on top.
Add some cheese and serve.

Then you can enjoy the chicken sandwich. It is very easy.
