Cats communicate a variety of messages using cat body language. Examples include arching (弓起) their backs as a signal of fear or attack, and slowly blinking (眨) their eyes to signal relaxation. Mouth open and no teeth showed suggests a feeling of playfulness. A cat which chooses to lie on its back shows happiness, trust and comfort. Cats show dissatisfaction by moving their ears back, equal to a human frown.
As is the case with dogs, a twitching (抽动) tail can mean a little anger while a tail held high suggests confidence. Cats will twitch their tails when hunting or angry, while larger twitching suggests displeasure. They may also twitch their tails when playing. A tail held high is a sign of happiness, or can be used as a greeting towards humans or other cats (usually close relatives) while half-raised shows less pleasure, and unhappiness is expressed with a tail held low.
Some characteristic signals, however, are often misunderstood. It is important to keep in mind that each cat may show its feelings with different body language. For instance, a cat rubbing its body along an arm or leg of its owner is not only a way in which to attract attention and, perhaps, a way to ask for food; it is also a way of “marking” its owner as its own. Usually a cat with its tail held high and twitching shows excitement, but this is often mistaken for anger.
Many people fail or are too slow to understand the silent body language of cats. And they may have the false impression that cats are cold-hearted, unfaithful or not clever. To understand cats, people must observe a cat closely and learn what its body signals tell them.
24.Which cat body language shows that a cat is relaxed
A.Lying on its stomach. B.Blinking its eyes slowly.
C.Holding its tail high. D.Moving its ears back.
25.According to the passage, a cat will twitch its tail EXCEPT ____.
A.when it feels sleepy B.when it is hunting
C.when it feels angry D.when it is playing
26.How many meanings does a cat’s rubbing its body along its owner have
A.2. B.3. C.4. D.5.
27.The last paragraph intends to tell us ____.
A.many people often have wrong opinions on cats
B.it is not easy to understand cats’ body language
C.every cat has its own special body language
D.we should learn more about cats’ body language
Nuclear expert Peng Shilu once said that he only did two things in his entire life: one was to build nuclear submarines (核潜艇), and the other to build nuclear power plants. Despite being one of the founding members of China’s nuclear power industry, Peng described himself as playing a tiny role in the task. In fact, he held leading positions in most of China’s early nuclear power projects, from the first-generation nuclear submarines to the establishment of Dayawan and Qinshan nuclear power stations.
Peng was born in 1925 into a family of heroes. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Peng was selected to study chemical machinery (机械) in the Soviet Union. In 1956, when he was about to graduate, he faced a turning point in his life. At that time, the central government decided to select a group of outstanding students studying abroad to transfer to the atomic energy major. Peng willingly agreed, marking the beginning of his lifelong commitment to developing China’s nuclear power.
In 1958, China started to independently develop its own nuclear submarines, and Peng was appointed to take charge of the research and design of the nuclear propulsion system. In the 1980s, China decided to build a commercial nuclear power plant. Appointed as the director-in-chief, Peng once again devoted himself to its preparation and construction.
During his career, Peng held a variety of high-ranking titles. In 1994, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, one of the top academic bodies in China.
Peng passed away in Beijing on March 22, 2021 at the age of 96. The Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee awarded the title “Role Model of the Times” to Peng for his contributions.
28.What does the author imply in the first paragraph
A.Peng took interest in nothing but nuclear power.
B.Peng was actually a very modest person.
C.Peng played a tiny role in building nuclear power plants.
D.Peng was the most important figure in the nuclear field.
29.What does the underlined part in the 2nd paragraph mean
A.Focus on. B.Know about.
C.Turn to. D.Research into.
30.How does the author develop the passage
A.By following the time order. B.By showing the great importance.
C.By providing some similar examples. D.By explaining the process of research.
31.Which of the following is the proper title for the passage
A.China Honors a Nuclear Power Expert
B.Peng Shilu Built Nuclear Submarines
C.China Lost a Famous Nuclear Expert
D.A Nuclear Hero Devoted Himself to Helping His Country
Nowadays the sense of frustration(挫败)results from many things such as slow Internet connections and choosing what to wear to an event with an unclear dress code. 32 So next time you want to smash(砸碎)your computer, remember the following reasons for not taking life so seriously.
You may think spending more time at home or with friends will probably have a negative influence on your bank account. In fact, once you have enough money to satisfy your basic needs, money makes very little difference in your overall well-being. 33
Worry isn’t productive. You might find yourself visiting a new city like London and ending up being confused by the transportation system. You can’t find out how to get where you want to go and it makes you want to scream. 34 Nothing. Getting lost in a new city may lead to a better story than going to a crowded museum.
35 If you’re lucky enough to make it to age 90, you still have less than 800,000 hours between the time you are born and the time you die to enjoy all the things that make up life. About one third of the hours will be spent in sleeping. 36 Do what you need to do to live a happy life and help others do the same.
A.Your time is limited.
B.Rich people aren’t happier people.
C.Does this kind of relationship really matter
D.But what are you getting by stressing yourself out
E.So you’d better make full use of the remaining time.
F.Friendship will give you more happiness than anything else.
G.Actually, most of our troubles are only as stressful as we choose to let them be.

七、书面表达
68.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数应为150左右。
When I was in seventh grade, my parents paid a tutor(家庭教师) forty dollars a week for her coming to my house and helping me with math. It ended up raising my marks from fifty to fifty-five.
I had to admit it was mainly my fault. Maybe I should have concentrated my math from the beginning. But studying math was a tough thing. Sitting on a chair to work on confusing math problems for two hours was a slow and painful process. During the process, I would fidget(坐立不安) and have many trips to the refrigerator in an attempt to get off that chair for at least five minutes.
During math tests, my teachers would always stay by my desk. My teachers and friends would frequently ask the question after tests,” How’s your math this time " So I became extremely afraid of math. While normal people of my age were scared of some insects and adventurous travels, I feared anything to do with numbers. The thought of a teacher picking on me in class made me feel scared. The red marks on the test paper were also terrifying.
My fear of math got worse in ninth grade. Every report card I received from my new math teacher Ms Robbins had the comment to encourage me, "I'm glad to do what I can to help you.” But I couldn't tell her the real reason why I didn't ask for help-I didn’t want to be considered stupid. Every question I had was, in my opinion at the time, something that the whole class had understood but I. So instead, I ended up not caring about anything related to math, without working hard on math at all. And I concluded everything would work out in the end
Eventually, my classmates and I took the final test that would lead to our graduation from middle school and stepping into high school. Days after the exam-- on a rainy summer morning, Ms. Robbins called me.
Paragraph 1:
With worry and uncertainty, I entered her office.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 2:
After I took the courage to tell my parents the bad news, they were silent.

W: Good morning, folks. I’m Connie Johnson here with this week’s weather report. Today, we’re going to see blue skies and a high of 90 degrees. Don’t forget your sunscreen! It’s only 9:00 in the morning, and the temperature has already risen to 85 degrees. Looking at the week ahead, it’s clear that we’ve officially entered summer. Tuesday through Friday, we’ll see temperatures in the 80s and 90s. We’ll get a bit of a break this weekend, when temperatures drop to the mid-70s. This week and possibly part of next week, there will be periods of high winds, especially in the south. Please watch out for wildfires, and if you see any smoke, be sure to call emergency services right away. We don’t want another fire like the one we had in Middleton County last year. When temperatures are this hot, it’s important to drink a lot of water, and to stay out of the sun. It’s especially important to watch young children and older people for signs of overheating and loss of water. Well, that’s it, folks. Stay cool out there!

(你的时间是有限的。)概括全段内容,符合上下文语境,故选A项。
36.根据上文“About one third of the hours will be spent in sleeping.(大约三分之一的时间用于睡眠。)”可知生命中大约三分之一的时间是在睡眠中度过的,根据空后“Do what you need to do to live a happy life and help others do the same.(做你需要做的事来过上幸福的生活,并帮助别人也这样做。)”可知此处讲的是我们应该做自己需要做的事情,空处承上启下,所以空出应该针对上文提出充分利用时间的建议,E项So you’d better make full use of the remaining time.(所以你最好充分利用剩下的时间。)针对上文提出建议,承接上文,引出下文,符合上下文语境,故选E项。
