What do you know about the musician Nie Er?
Let’s look up an encyclopaedia about Chinese musician Nie Er
Nie Er’s original name was Nie Shouxin(聂守信),He was born in 1912 in Kunming Yun nan province. Under his mother influence, He showed unusual talent in music.
He had a good ear for music, and he could sing a song after hearing it just once or twice.
What talent did he show in music at his early age
He wrote more than 30 songs in his life. Perhaps The March of the Volunteers was his most famous songs.
Chinese people admire Nie Er because he wrote The March of the Volunteers (China’s national anthem), showed people’s hard life in songs, and used music to help the country. He was talented and loved his country very much.

Nie Er, originally named Nie Shouxin, was born in Kunming, Yunnan province, in 1912. He had a good ear for music, and he could sing a song after hearing it just once or twice. Besides, he could move his ears. Over time, people started calling him “Erduo”. He liked this nickname, so he changed his name to Nie Er.
Nie Er is famous for composing the music for China's national anthem The March of Volunteers. The 1930s were a difficult time; there was great suffering and people were worried about their future. The March of Volunteers encouraged Chinese people to “march” together to save the nation.
Nie Er died when he was only 23. He wrote more than 30 songs during his short life. Many of these songs were about the suffering of ordinary people and the challenges they faced. It is not surprising that people think of him as a national hero and call him “the People's Musician”.

Nie Er was born in 1912 in Yunnan, he loved music from a young age. He joined the Communist Youth League in 1928 and later the Communist Party. In the 1930s, he worked in Shanghai, making music for films and records. Sadly, he died in a swimming accident in Japan in 1935, when he was only 23.
He wrote over 30 songs in his short life. Besides The March of Volunteers (China’s national anthem), his well-known works include The Big Road Song《大路歌》, The Dock Workers' Song, 《码头工人歌》and The Song of Selling Newspapers《卖报歌》. These songs talked about workers’ hard lives and people’s fight for a better future.
Nie Er used music to tell stories of ordinary people and encourage them. He mixed Chinese folk music with new styles, making his songs popular and powerful. People call him "the People's Musician" because his music helped unite the nation during hard times.
