Writing a report on population change
Populations change in all areas over time. Do some research and write a report on population change in a city or province based on your findings.
1 Wang Yao is writing a report about the world population. Look at the line graph she found and help her complete the report. Use the words and phrases below to help you.
Growing numbers: rise (sharply, quickly, slowly), grow, go up, double
Falling numbers: fall (sharply, quickly, slowly), drop, go down

二、写作注意事项
(1)时态与语态:
调查背景用过去时;
数据描述可用一般现在时(客观结果);
观点分析用一般现在时。
(2)数据表达多样化:
避免重复使用 “percent”,如:“40%” 可表述为 “nearly half” “four out of ten” “approximately 40 per cent”。
(3)逻辑连贯:
用连接词区分数据层次(如 Firstly... Secondly... Finally...);
对比数据时用 “while /by comparison”
(4)避免主观臆断。
(5)语言简洁准确。

民国初期广州人口稳步增长,1920 年户籍人口约 90
受抗日战争影响,1938 年广州沦陷后人口锐减至30万,1940 年回升至约 50-60 万1718。
1964 年广州人口 388 万。
改革开放初期,广州常住人口约 500 万。
2000年,广州常住人口达 994.3 万。
第七次全国人口普查数据,广州常住人口突破 1867 万。
2025 年常住人口目标为 2100 万

The graph shows Guangzhou's population changes. Before 1940, the population grew very slowly. In 1900, it was about 800,000. In 1920, it reached around 900,000 but dropped to 500,000 in 1940 due to the war. After 1940, it started to rise. By 1960, it had grown to 3.88 million. From 1980 to 2000, the population went up sharply, reaching 9.943 million in 2000. In 2020, it rose to 18.6766 million. The target is 21 million by 2025, showing continuous growth.

Doing housework
 Last week, our class made a survey on doing housework among ourselves. Here are the results.
According to the survey, 40 per cent of our classmates often do some washing such as washing clothes, dishes and vegetables. There are 35 per cent students cleaning the house. They sweep the floor and clean the window. 12 per cent students do some shopping for their families. And about 8 per cent of them do the cooking. However, there're 5 per cent students hardly doing any housework.
I think as a member of the family, it's our responsibility to do housework. We should learn to do some simple housework. Also, it's helpful for us to learn some living skills from it.
