Language Points
2. If you’re afraid, just shout or hold my hand.
如果你害怕，就喊出来或抓着我的手。
shout 作动词，意为“呼喊；呼叫；大声说”。
常用短语：
(l) shout at sb. 意为“冲某人大声叫嚷”，含有批评、指责的意思。
Don’t shout at your parents. 别对你父母大声叫嚷。
Language Points
(2) shout to sb. 意为“对某人大声叫喊”，没有批评、指责的意思。
He shouted to the girl and warned her of the danger.
他冲那个女孩大喊, 警告她有危险。
(3) shout out 意为“喊出；突然呼喊”。
Only a few people were brave enough to shout out her name.
只有少数人有勇气喊她的名字。
3. I was scared at first, but shouting did help.
起初我很害怕，但喊出来确实有用。
did 此处用作助动词，在句中起强调作用，用来表达说话者的一种强烈的感情。did要重读，后接动词原形，意为“确实：务必；一定；的确”等。
do 随主语人称、数和句子时态的变化而变化。
eg:I did make a phone call to you yesterday.
昨天我确实给你打了电话。
eg:Please do be quiet for a moment. 请务必安静一会儿。
4. I suggest Water City Restaurant in Water World.
suggest v.建议；提议 常用结构：
suggest sth. (to sb.) (向某人) 建议某事
suggest (one’s ) doing sth. 建议(某人)做某事
suggest+ that 从句 建议……（从句要用虚拟语气，即谓语
用“(should+)动词原形”）
注意：“建议某人做某事”不能用suggest sb. to do sth. ，而用advise sb. to do sth. 。
I’d like to suggest another plan to you.
My father suggested walking to the supermarket.
Our teacher suggested that we (should) go by train instead
of by bus.
suggest的名词形式是suggestion，为可数名词，意为“建议”，其同义词advice为不可数名词。
I’d like to offer a suggestion.
拓展：suggest 还有“暗示；表明”之意，后接宾语从句，从句不用虚拟语气。
e.g. His pale face suggests he is in bad health.
他面色苍白说明他身体不好。

(l) on one’s way to ... 意为“在某人去……的路上”。

由way构成的其他短语：
by the way 顺便问/提一下 in a way 在某种程度上
in the way 妨碍；挡道 in this way 这样，通过这种方法

(2) pass by 路过；经过
e.g. Don’t forget to tell him the news when you pass by his home.
当你经过他家时不要忘记告诉他消息。
拓展：pass by 还有以下用法：
①( 机会) ( 从某人旁边) 过去→ pass sb. by
e.g. Don’t let the chance pass you by.
别让机会与你擦肩而过。
②不注意；忽视
e.g. He was so silent that I almost passed him by.
他是如此安静以至于我几乎忽略了他。
(3) Uncle Bob’s 相与于 Uncle Bob’s restaurant。
当名词所有格限定的是表示住宅、诊所、商店等的名词时，该名词通常省略。
He is going to his aunt’s (house) this weekend!
这个周末他打算去他姑姑家。
They’re at the doctor’s (office). 他们在诊所。
He is cutting hair at the barber’s (shop). 他正在理发店理发。
staff属集体名词。它既可看作单数，又可看作复数。当其强调整体时，谓语动词用单数形式；当其强调个体时，谓语动词用复数形式。常见的集体名词还有：police(警察)，army(军队)，class(班级)，family(家庭)，team(小组)等。
