What is a true friend like

When you face problems, a helpful friend is always there to support you by offering advice or simply listening. He or she never makes you feel helpless. True friends don’t care if you wear tasteful clothes or not, because they like you for who you are. They would never use tasteless words that might hurt your feelings. Late-night talks with true friends might leave you sleepless, but these deep conversations—not meaningless small talks—make your friendship stronger and more meaningful.

Last Saturday, Shirley and I took a walk in the park near our homes. It was so peaceful out there.
We sat on a bench to talk about our school days. Suddenly, it started raining. We ran to hide under a big tree.
While waiting for the rain to stop, we noticed a colourful butterfly stuck in a puddle. It looked helpless. Shirley carefully picked it up with a leaf. She was so helpful. Her thoughtful actions saved its life!
When the rain finally stopped, we walked home. Our shoes were wet but our hearts were light. How lucky I am to have a friend like Shirley! She turns a rainy afternoon into something wonderful.

Homework
1. Compulsory homework:
Review the suffixes and adjectives learned in this lesson, and master the rules.
Choose 5 new words ending in -ful and -less and make up a sentence for each word with the theme of “friendship”.
2. Optional homework:
Make a “Friendship Card” for your best friend, describing him/her with 3-5 adjectives ending in -ful or -less, and include a small illustration (插画).
