(1) What is the weather like in the four seasons
It is warm and windy in spring.
It is sunny in summer. Sometimes it is also rainy.
It is cool in autumn. Sometimes it is cloudy or foggy.
It is cold and snowy in winter.
Presentation
1. Answer the following questions.
(2) How are the words in bold formed
windy, rainy, cloudy, snowy, sunny, foggy
Presentation
We add -y to nouns like “wind” “rain” “cloud” and “snow” to make adjectives “windy” “rainy” “cloudy” and “snowy”. But for nouns like “sun” and “fog”, we should double the last letter before adding -y.
(3) What does the suffix -y mean
It usually means “having the quality of”.
When adding -y to some nouns to make adjectives, what other rules can you work out
For nouns ending in a silent -e, we drop the -e before adding -y. For example, we turn the nouns “shine” and “noise” into adjectives “shiny” and “noisy”.
