Themed with the brightly coloured bricks, Legoland Florida is the place for the next generation of excitement seekers, home to entry-level roller coasters and kid-friendly attractions. The park’s newest attractions include Pirate River Quest, a scenic boat ride through the former Cypress Garden. While the attractions may focus on younger guests, this is really a park for everyone.
Universal Studios Florida
Inspired by the greatest moments from entertainment history, Universal Studios Florida is a movie and television-themed park that began as an actual working studio. For generations, the name Milton Hershey has been a well-known word closely connected with fine chocolate products throughout the country and around the world. He was born in 1857 on a farm near Derry Church, a small Pennsylvania community. Frequent family moves interrupted his schooling and left him with limited education. He only completed the fourth grade.
Following a four-year apprenticeship (学徒期) with a Lancaster candy maker, he established his first candy-making business in Philadelphia. That initial effort failed as did his next two attempts in Chicago and New York. However, he never gave up his hope to build up his own business. Returning to Lancaster in 1883, Hershey established the Lancaster Caramel Company, which quickly became an outstanding success. It was this business that established him as a candy maker and set the stage for future achievements.
Hershey became fascinated with German chocolate-making machinery exhibited at the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. He bought the equipment for his Lancaster plant and soon began producing various chocolate creations. Then in 1900, he sold the Lancaster Caramel Co. in order to focus entirely on his chocolate business.
Three years later, Hershey returned to Derry Church to build a new factory. There he could obtain the large supplies of fresh milk needed to perfect and produce fine milk chocolate. Through trial and error, he created his own formula for milk chocolate. In 1903 he began construction on what was to become the world’s largest chocolate plant. After its completion, Hershey's milk chocolate quickly became the first nationally marketed product of its kind.
With Milton Hershey’s success came a great sense of social responsibility. Hershey created a completely new community around his factory. He built a model town for his employees that included comfortable homes, an inexpensive public transportation system, a quality public school system and broad cultural opportunities. The town of Hershey continues to be a special place for its residents and a popular at action for millions of visitors each year. Indeed, Milton Hershey's achievements do speak for themselves.
24.What stopped Hershey from having systematic school education
A.His family’s continual relocation. B.His lack of interest in study.
C.His failure to meet school requirements. D.His parents’ attaching little value to education.
25.Why did Hershey sell his Lancaster plant
A.The plant had suffered a huge loss.
B.The produced candies were of low quality.
C.His machinery business needed a lot of money.
D.He decided to commit himself to chocolate production.
26.Which of the following best describes Hershey
A.Gentle and open-minded. B.Determined and public-spirited.
C.Honest and generous. D.Humorous and creative.
27.What can be the most suitable title for the text
A.Failure is the mother of success. B.Many hands make light work.
C.Impossible is nothing to a willing heart. D.Great hopes and good wills make great man.
A plant-based diet seems to be the best option for human health. A team led by medical doctor Angelo Capodici of the University of Bologna in Italy has found that humans eating vegetarian (素食的) diets tend to have measurably better health outcomes in several areas.
This does not mean that you should immediately excise meat from your diet, since the diet needs of individuals can vary significantly. What it does suggest is that making dietary changes might be a much more powerful tool for improving health outcomes, if it can be done safely.
Since diet is easy to change, Capodici and his colleagues (同事) wanted to take a closer look at the impact of plant-based eating on the risk of these diseases. They studied the data collected from 48 reviews between January 2000 and June 2023, and found that vegetarian diets were associated with better health status on a number of risk factors for both cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cancer. Overall, these plant-based diets were associated with better cholesterol (胆固醇) levels and blood sugar control, a lower risk of both cancer and heart disease compared to those of plant-and-meat eaters.
The team noted, though, that vegetarian pregnant (怀孕的) women did not show a significantly lower risk of high blood pressure. They were also careful not to draw conclusions about plant-based foods being the only cause of these health improvements.
It’s also worth noting that plant-based diets can result in vitamin and mineral shortage; and, of course, many different health conditions, such as allergies (过敏) require a careful, tailored approach to food. Because of these, the researchers caution against the large-scale adoption of plant-based diets. Rather, they say more targeted and more specific research should be conducted, in order to narrow down why these diets are positively correlated with better health.
28.What is the finding of the new research
A.Vegetarians are likely to have a healthier body.
B.Individual dietary needs do not affect health outcomes.
C.Humans should eat more vegetables to enjoy a longer life.
D.Plant-based diets have become more popular in recent years.
29.What does the underlined word “excise” in paragraph 2 mean
A.Remove. B.Obtain. C.Distinguish. D.Steal.
30.How did the team conduct the research
A.By giving reasons. B.By analysing data.
C.By listing examples. D.By making comparisons.
31.What can we learn from the last paragraph
A.Plant-based diets are an invitation to allergies among people.
B.Plant-based diets can make up for vitamin and mineral shortage.
C.Further researches should be focused on how to improve health.
D.Individual health needs should be considered before diet changes.
The world’s elderly population is increasing. The number of older people — those aged 60 years or older — is expected to double by 2050 and is growing faster than all younger age groups across the world. That comes with an increasing need for caregivers who can provide 24-hour care, not only at hospitals or nursing homes, but also at private homes.
Already, caregiving robots are programmed to ask questions a nurse would ask and can keep an eye on patients for falls. These robotic assistants are expected to become increasingly marketable and reach 450, 000 by 2045 because of the expected caregiver shortage in the United States.
“Unluckily, the hard structure of present caregiving robots prevents them from a safe human-robot interaction, limiting their assistance to only social interaction and not physical interaction,” said Ramses Martinez, an assistant professor in Purdue’s College of Engineering. “After all, would you leave babies or old people in the hands of a robot ”
Recent advances in material science have enabled the production of soft robots with deformable (可变形的) bodies or the ability to reshape themselves when touched, but today the complex design prevents the use of this technology at home.
However, Martinez and other researchers have developed a new design method which shows promise in enabling the production of soft robots using a 3-D printer.
The design process has three steps. First, a user makes a computer-aided design file with the shape of the robot. The user then paints the file to show which directions the different joints of the soft robot will move. It takes the computer a few seconds to change the computer-aided design model into a 3-D soft machine that can be printed using any 3-D printer.
“The soft machines move like humans. Their ability to change their body structure and movement to adapt to a wide variety of environments will improve caregiving greatly,” says Martinez.
The researchers are looking for partners to test and bring their technology to the market.
32.Why does the market urgently need caregiving robots
A.The basic needs of the nursing homes. B.The results of advanced technology.
C.The rapid increase in the global aging population. D.The continuous decrease in birth rate.
33.What makes it difficult for people to accept caregiving robots
A.The robots can’t communicate with the patients freely.
B.The robots can’t offer convincing physical interaction.
C.The robots can’t update the service in a timely manner.
D.The robots can’t truly empathize with the old patients.
34.How to evaluate Martinez’s new design method
A.It allows the computer to fully automate the robot production.
B.It requires a specific 3-D printer to print out a soft robot.
C.It takes a long time to print a soft robot with a 3-D printer.
D.It makes the production of soft robots easier to operate.
35.What is the text mainly about
A.The robot industry in the future. B.The effects of population ageing.
C.Soft robots created with 3-D printers. D.The development of 3-D printers.
Body language refers to the nonverbal (非语言的) signals that people use to communicate. 36 They can impact how people judge you in the workplace. Make eye contact
It’s important to make eye contact with the person you’ re speaking to. 39 A simple strategy to ensure you’ re maintaining the right amount of eye contact is to look into the person’s eyes long enough to take note of their eye color before looking away. This strategy ensures you make proper eye contact for a length of time that’s natural and comfortable to both parties.
Nod periodically
Nodding is a good way to show the person you’ re speaking with that you’ re listening and engaged in what they’re saying. 40 Also, it makes them know that you agree with or are interested in the message they’re sharing, which can help to increase their confidence.
A.A sincere smile can brighten up the darkest day.

Carl sank into his seat on the crowded airplane and closed his eyes, eager for the long flight ahead to be over as soon as possible. Just as the cabin doors were closing and the attendants began final checks, he felt a sudden shake against the back of his seat. He turned around to see a young boy, no more than six or seven, sitting in the row behind him. The boy had a grin on his face as he kicked Carl’s seat again.
“Hey there, can you please stop kicking my seat ” Carl asked in a friendly tone, trying to get the boy to stop before things worsened. The boy’s mother sat next to him, completely absorbed in her magazine, and even did not look up or stop him. The boy’s grin widened as he got ready to deliver another firm kick to the back of Carl’s seat.
Carl felt his frustration growing. This wasn’t how he imagined spending the next five hours. He intended to warn the mother, but hesitated to cause a scene. The plane accelerated down the runway, and the repeated kicks continued, each one making Carl’s seat lurch (前倾) forward. He took a deep breath and prepared himself for the unavoidable next kick, realizing this was going to be a very long and uncomfortable flight.
Earlier that day, Carl had been in a great mood after a successful business trip in Boston. As a senior project manager, he was used to high-pressure tasks and tight deadlines. Despite the exhaustion of back-to-back meetings and little sleep, he successfully signed a deal, a testament to his hard work and perseverance. He looked forward to relaxing on the flight home.
Gazing out the window, Carl tried to remain positive. Suddenly the kick started up again, this time with a steady rhythm, as if the boy was treating Carl’s seat like a drum. Carl’s hands curled into fists, a clear sign of his growing frustration. This flight was supposed to be his chance to relax and unwind, not a test of his patience, leaving him more stressed and tired than before... However, after enduring a few more forceful kicks, Carl’s patience finally disappeared.

W: Hello. This is FM98.6. It’s been another warm and fine day for most of us. Temperatures in southeast England reached 26℃ by mid-afternoon, and Brighton had fifteen hours of lovely sunshine. But the weather is already beginning to change, I’m afraid, and during the night showers will slowly move in from the Atlantic and reach southwest England by early morning. The rest of the country will have a very mild, dry night with temperatures no lower than fifteen degrees in the south, a little cooler — eleven degrees or so — in the north. And now, let’s move on to the weather forecast for Friday and the weekend. Well, southern Europe will once again get the best of the weekend weather. Scotland and Northern Ireland will have heavy rain for much of the weekend and temperatures will drop to seventeen degrees. Across most of England the weather will be cloudy but mainly dry with sunny periods. And when the sun does come out, temperatures could rise up to twenty-three degrees.

可知,虽然失败了几次,但Hershey没有放弃,最终建立了自己的公司并获得成功,由此推知他有决心;根据最后一段的“With Milton Hershey’s success came a great sense of social responsibility. Hershey created a completely new community around his factory. He built a model town for his employees that included comfortable homes, an inexpensive public transportation system, a quality public school system and broad cultural opportunities.
根据第二段的“However, he never gave up his hope to build up his own business.(然而,他从未放弃自己创业的希望。)”以及最后一段“With Milton Hershey’s success came a great sense of social responsibility. Hershey created a completely new community around his factory. He built a model town for his employees that included comfortable homes, an inexpensive public transportation system, a quality public school system and broad cultural opportunities. 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍意大利博洛尼亚大学医生安吉洛·卡波迪奇领导的研究团队发现,素食主义者在一些健康指标上表现更好。但研究人员警告不要大规模采用素食,应开展更有针对性的研究,以确定素食与健康之间的具体关联。
28.细节理解题。根据第一段“A team led by medical doctor Angelo Capodici of the University of Bologna in Italy has found that humans eating vegetarian (素食的) diets tend to have measurably better health outcomes in several areas.”(由意大利博洛尼亚大学的医学博士安吉洛·卡波迪奇领导的一个团队发现,吃素食的人在几个方面的健康状况往往会明显好转。) 故选A。
根据指代关系可知,划线句“This does not mean that you should immediately excise meat from your diet”(这并不意味着你应该立即从饮食中excise肉类)中指示代词This指代的是第一段中的研究结论“素食者可能拥有更健康的身体”。 故选A。
根据第三段中“They studied the data collected from 48 reviews between January 2000 and June 2023, and found that vegetarian diets were associated with better health status on a number of risk factors for both cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cancer.”(他们研究了2000年1月至2023年6月间收集的48篇评论的数据,发现素食与心血管疾病和癌症的多种危险因素的健康状况有关。)
根据最后一段中“Because of these, the researchers caution against the large-scale adoption of plant-based diets. Rather, they say more targeted and more specific research should be conducted, in order to narrow down why these diets are positively correlated with better health.”(由于这些原因,研究人员警告不要大规模采用植物性饮食。

根据第一段中的“The world’s elderly population is increasing. The number of older people — those aged 60 years or older — is expected to double by 2050 and is growing faster than all younger age groups across the world. That comes with an increasing need for caregivers who can provide 24-hour care, not only at hospitals or nursing homes, but also at private homes.(世界老年人口正在增加。预计到2050年,60岁或60岁以上的老年人数量将增加一倍,其增长速度超过世界上所有较年轻年龄组。与此同时,不仅在医院或疗养院,而且在私人家庭,对能提供24小时护理的护理人员的需求也越来越大)”可知,市场迫切需要看护机器人的原因是全球老龄化人口的迅速增加。故选C。
33.细节理解题。根据第三段中的““Unluckily, the hard structure of present caregiving robots prevents them from a safe human-robot interaction, limiting their assistance to only social interaction and not physical interaction,” said Ramses Martinez, an assistant professor in Purdue’s College of Engineering.(普渡大学工程学院的助理教授拉姆西斯·马丁内斯说:“不幸的是,目前护理机器人的坚硬结构阻止了它们与人与机器人的安全互动,限制了它们的帮助只能进行社会互动,而不能进行身体互动。”)”
根据第五段中的“However, Martinez and other researchers have developed a new design method which shows promise in enabling the production of soft robots using a 3-D printer.(然而,马丁内斯和其他研究人员已经开发出一种新的设计方法,有望使用3D打印机生产软体机器人)”以及第六段中的“It takes the computer a few seconds to change the computer-aided design model into a 3-D soft machine that can be printed using any 3-D printer.(计算机只需要几秒钟就能将计算机辅助设计模型变成一台可以使用任何3D打印机打印的3D软机器)”可知,马丁内斯和其他研究人员开发的新的设计方法能使用3D打印机生产软机器人,并且计算机只需要几秒便可以使用任何3D打印机打印出软体机器人。
根据文章第五段“However, Martinez and other researchers have developed a new design method which shows promise in enabling the production of soft robots using a 3-D printer.(然而,马丁内斯和其他研究人员已经开发出一种新的设计方法,有望使用3D打印机生产软体机器人)”及全文内容可知,文章主要介绍了马丁内斯和其他研究人员已经开发出一种新的设计方法,这种方法可以通过3D打印机生产软机器人。

39.上文“It’s important to make eye contact with the person you’ re speaking to.(和你说话的人进行眼神交流是很重要的)”提到眼神交流很重要,结合下文“A simple strategy to ensure you’ re maintaining the right amount of eye contact is to look into the person’s eyes long enough to take note of their eye color before looking away.(确保你保持适当目光接触的一个简单策略是,在目光移开之前,盯着对方的眼睛看足够长的时间,注意他们眼睛的颜色)”提到如何保持适当的眼神交流,故B项“然而,重要的是要避免制作太多”符合语境,语上文形成转折关系,B项中“avoid making too much”与下文“maintaining the right amount of eye contact”一致,强调眼神交流要有度。故选B。
40.根据下文“Also, it makes them know that you agree with or are interested in the message they’re sharing, which can help to increase their confidence.(而且,这会让他们知道你同意或对他们分享的信息感兴趣,这有助于增加他们的信心)”可知,D 项“这是鼓励他们继续说下去的好方法”符合语境,与下文并列,说明点头的重要性。故选D。

67.He quickly turned around and fixed a serious look on the boy’s mother. “Excuse me, ma’am, but your son has been continuously kicking my seat. It’s quite disturbing and making the flight uncomfortable for me,” Carl said firmly, yet politely. The mother, startled, finally looked up from her magazine and apologized profusely. She gently scolded the boy, reminding him to behave. The boy, now looking a bit sheepish, stopped his antics and settled down.
Taking a deep breath, Carl decided to deal with the situation differently. He reached into his bag and pulled out a coloring book and a set of crayons. Turning back to the boy with a smile, he offered, “Hey, would you like to color with me It might make the flight more fun for both of us.” The boy’s eyes lit up, and he eagerly accepted. Together, they spent the remainder of the flight coloring and chatting, turning what had been a frustrating experience into a pleasant one. Carl realized that sometimes, a little understanding and creativity could turn a difficult situation into something enjoyable.
