Intonation (1): Rising tone
When we ask a Yes / No question, our tone rises (↗) at the end of the question.
Improve your pronunciation
When we ask a Wh-question, we let the tone of our voice fall at the end of the question. When we answer the question, we usually let the tone fall at the end of the sentence too.
Intonation (2): Falling tone
S: What should we remember to do during our exchange trip
T: You should be polite and respect the local culture.
We also use a falling tone at the end of an imperative sentence.
Arrive at the airport on time, please.
Please bring a camera with you.
