Imagine that you read a post by Wang Mei, who is on an exchange trip in New Zealand. She doesn’t feel good and misses her family. Write a message to cheer her up.
Hi Wang Mei,
I know you miss your family and don’t feel good in New Zealand. But don’t worry! When you first get to a foreign country, like now, it’s normal to feel this way. At the start, everything is new and fun, just like the honeymoon phase. Then, maybe things get hard, and you feel unhappy, angry or sad. That’s the negotiation phase.
But you’ll get through it! Next, you’ll start to adjust. You’ll know what to do in many situations, and the country won’t feel so new. You’ll learn to accept the local culture and deal with things you don’t like. Finally, you’ll feel at home there, and cultural differences won’t be a big problem.
Just take it easy and enjoy your trip. You can do it!
Best wishes,
Li Hua
