1. Presentation (12 minutes) Divide the class into several groups. Show some word cards of the key words and phrases in Unit 5, like “amazed, surprised, search for, run away” etc. Each group sends a representative to pick up a word card and use the word or phrase on the card to make a sentence. The group that makes the most correct sentences within 3 minutes wins. After that, review the simple past tense. Give some examples of sentences in the simple past tense related to animals, such as “I saw a panda in the zoo yesterday.” “She fed the ducks in the park last week.” Then ask students to change these sentences into negative forms and questions.
