Practice makes perfect
During the summer holiday, I saw a group of American students at the Temple of Heaven. They asked me about the restaurants nearby, and I answered them in English. To my surprise, they could not understand my English, and I had to repeat myself many times. I then decided to make a plan to improve my English.
I started my plan after I came back. Every morning, I spent 10 minutes listening to English on a language learning app on my phone, then another 10 minutes practising my pronunciation. I did this every day, even at the weekend. After two months, my pronunciation became a lot better.
Practice makes perfect. I still follow this plan, and now I am happy that I can express myself in English very well. I even work as a volunteer to help foreign tourists in my free time.

There are lots of stories about learning and the joys of learning. Akeelah and the Bee is an encouraging film about a young girl’s goal to win a spelling competition. Watch the film and find out what you can learn from the girl’s story. You can also collect inspiring stories by yourselves. Then share one with your classmates.
