辨析: take place与happen
take place 发生;出现;举行 一般指有计划、有预谋地“发生”
happen 发生;碰巧 一般用于偶然或突发性事件
注意:take place 和 happen 都不能用于被动语态。

(2)辨析:cost,spend,pay与take
cost 主语通常是物 sth cost(s)(sb) some money 指花费
金钱
spend 主语通常是人 ①spend... on sth ②spend... doing 指花费时间或金钱
pay 主语通常是人 pay some money for sth 指为某物支付金钱
take 主语通常是it It takes sb some time to do sth. 指花费时间

(1)look forward to 期待;盼望
其中to为介词,其后可跟名词、代词或动词 -ing 形式作宾语。
look forward to doing sth 盼望做某事
e.g. Cindy is looking forward to her birthday party.
辛迪正盼望着她的生日聚会。
e.g. I'm looking forward to buying a new apartentfor my parents.
我正盼望着给父母买一套新的公寓。

(3)辨析:reply与answer
两者都可用作动词,意为“回答”,但有区别具体如下
reply 指用口头或书面形式回答 作不及物动词时,常与to搭配,reply to...意为“对…作出回答”。作及物动词时,意为“回答;回答说”
answer 是最普通的用语,包括用口头、书面或行动回答 既可作及物动词,也可作不及物动词
