教学过程
教学环节 学习活动(包含设计意图)
Lead - in (5 minutes) Activity: Show some pictures of well - known role models in different fields on the PPT, such as scientists like Yuan Longping, sports stars like Michael Jordan, and humanitarians like Mother Teresa. Then ask students to work in pairs and discuss the following questions: "Who are these people in the pictures " "What do you know about them " "Why do you think they are role models " Design Intent: This activity can arouse students' interest in the topic of role models, activate their prior knowledge, and create a good atmosphere for the subsequent learning. By discussing in pairs, students can practice their oral English communication skills and also get familiar with the topic vocabulary in a natural way.
Knowledge Presentation (10 minutes) Vocabulary Introduction: Present the key vocabulary related to role models on the PPT one by one, such as "role model", "contribution", "devote", "pioneer", "inspire", "achievement", etc. Explain the meanings, pronunciations, and usages of these words with examples. For example, when teaching "contribution", show the sentence "Yuan Longping made great contributions to China's agricultural development." And ask students to read the words and example sentences aloud to get familiar with them. Prediction: Play a short audio clip of the introduction part of the listening material (without revealing the main content). Then ask students to predict what the whole listening material might be about according to the words they have just learned and the audio clip they heard. Let them share their predictions in groups. Design Intent: The vocabulary introduction helps students build a vocabulary base for understanding the listening material. Prediction can stimulate students' curiosity and make them more actively involved in the subsequent listening process. Group discussion can also improve students' cooperative learning ability.
Practice (15 minutes) First Listening: Play the whole listening material for the first time. Ask students to listen carefully and answer the general question: "What is the main idea of this listening passage Who is the role model talked about " Let students write down their answers briefly. Check the Answer: Invite several students to share their answers. Then confirm the correct answer together: "The listening passage is mainly about a famous scientist, Qian Xuesen, and his contributions and qualities as a role model." Second Listening: Play the listening material again. This time, ask students to listen more carefully and fill in a table on the handout. The table includes columns such as "Time", "Event in Qian Xuesen's life", "His Contribution", and "Quality Shown". Check the Filling: Walk around the classroom to check students' filling of the table. Then choose some students to show their completed tables on the projector and explain their answers. Guide other students to make corrections and supplements if necessary. Design Intent: The first listening allows students to have a general understanding of the listening content. The second listening with the task of filling in the table can train students to catch detailed information and improve their listening accuracy. The checking process can not only help students correct their mistakes but also let them learn from each other.
Production (10 minutes) Group Discussion: Divide students into groups of 4 - 5. Give each group a topic related to the listening content: "What can we learn from Qian Xuesen as students " Let students discuss in groups for about 3 - 4 minutes. Encourage them to use the words and expressions they have learned in this class, such as "We should learn his spirit of devotion to our studies like Qian Xuesen devoted himself to China's aerospace program." Group Presentation: Invite each group to send a representative to the front of the class to present their group's discussion results. Other groups listen carefully and can ask questions or make comments after the presentation. Summary: Summarize the key points of this class, including the vocabulary, sentence patterns, and the main content of the listening material. Emphasize the importance of learning from role models and encourage students to find their own role models in life and strive to be better. Design Intent: Group discussion and presentation can improve students' oral expression ability, critical thinking ability, and cooperative learning ability. The summary at the end of the class can help students review and consolidate what they have learned in this class.
Summary and Homework (5 minutes) Task 1: Ask students to write a short passage about a role model they admire. They should include the basic information of the role model, their contributions, and the reasons why they admire this person. The passage should be at least 80 words. Task 2: Listen to the listening material of this class again after class and try to retell it to their parents or friends in English. Design Intent: The writing task can help students further practice the knowledge and skills they have learned in this class and improve their writing ability.
