Teaching Procedures (Procedures and Content)
Step Details Design Intent
1. Lead-in Ask students to look at the pictures on Page 21 and answer:- What are they - What do you know about them This step aims to activate students’ prior knowledge of artworks, arouse their curiosity about the lesson topic, and create a smooth transition to the upcoming listening and speaking activities.
2. Viewing & Pre-listening 1. Match activities (a-f) with the pictures on Page 21, then check answers together.2. Read the names of different art forms aloud as a class.3. Show short videos or play audio clips about famous artworks; invite students to name the corresponding art forms.4. Read the descriptions in Activity 1B, then select the correct works from Activity 1A.5. Guide students to answer:- How did you find the answers - What else do you know about these works 6. Read the descriptions aloud as a class again. This step provides multi-sensory input (visual and auditory) to help students familiarize themselves with art forms and classic works. Matching and reading tasks build a solid foundation for listening comprehension and expand students’ art-related vocabulary.
3. Listening & Speaking 1. Listen to the conversation in Activity 1C, then repeat it sentence by sentence.2. Pair work: Practice the conversation in Activity 1C with a partner.3. Pair work: Replace the bolded parts in the conversation with their own ideas and practice again. Listening and repeating help students master correct pronunciation and intonation. Pair work offers practical speaking opportunities—allowing students to apply the new vocabulary and sentence structures, and gradually improve their oral communication skills.

Class Summary
In this lesson, students mastered English names of 6 key art forms and expressions for classic artworks. They practiced listening to and speaking about art preferences through pair-matching, repetition, and role-playing. Most students showed increased interest in diverse art forms, laying a good foundation for future art-related lessons.
After-class Assignment
Work with your partner to create a short dialogue about your favorite art forms or artworks. Prepare to perform this dialogue in the next class.
Teaching Reflection
1. A number of students still confused "literature" and "drama" during practice. In future pre-listening activities, I will add more comparative examples to clarify the differences—for instance: “Literature refers to written works like novels, poems, and essays; drama, however, is performed on stage, such as plays or operas.”
2. Some slower-learning students struggled to keep up during pair work. Next time, I will assign more supportive partners to them and circulate to provide one-on-one guidance, ensuring all students can actively participate in practice.
3. The video/audio clips about famous artworks effectively engaged students. In future lessons, I can include more regional artworks to further boost their cultural awareness.
If you need to adjust specific parts—such as adding more examples to the preview assignment, modifying the pair-work tasks, or refining the core literacy objectives—feel free to let me know. I can also help expand the lesson with additional activities (like group discussions about art’s role in daily life) if needed.
