根据Franklin & Marshall College中“Upper - classmen get housing through a draw system, choosing from apartments, wellness - themed dorms, or group housing options.( 高年级学生通过抽签制度获得住房,从公寓、健康主题宿舍或团体住房中进行选择。)” 以及Ohio Wesleyan University中“Students can join themed communities within residence halls, such as gaming, food lovers, or adventure.”(学生可以加入宿舍内的主题社区,如游戏、美食爱好者或冒险。) 故选A项。
根据Vanderbilt University中“The annual Commons Cup lets freshmen compete in studies, sports, and campus involvement.( 一年一度的Commons Cup让新生在学习、体育和校园参与方面进行竞争。)”
根据第二段的句子“However, it wasn’t long before I found I was stuck in studying something not appealing to me, and this part-time work became my thing. I made the tough decision to quit my university major after graduation, switching to pursue a career in the kitchen.(然而没过多久,我就发现自己被困在了学习毫无吸引力的事物中,而这份兼职工作反倒成了我的寄托。
第三段“Soon, I fell back into old patterns working in kitchens but feeling unfulfilled. Then, social media changed everything. As an early user, I poured my creativity into the platform, discovering a talent for photography and storytelling. Soon, my audience grew to 200,000 followers. Recognizing the opportunity, I quit my job to pursue travel photography and social media full-time.(很快,我又回到了在厨房工作的老模式,但感觉没有成就感。
根据最后一段的句子“Making money is no longer the main driver — instead, I seek meaningful experiences and opportunities to inspire others(赚钱不再是我的主要动力——相反,我寻求有意义的经历和机会来激励他人)”可知,作者在当前的职业中,最看重的是能够为他人带来积极的影响和有意义的经历。故选C项。
根据第一段“Whether you shop for food in a traditional grocery store or a big-box store, most of your options are junk foods. Terms on food packaging like “low fat,” “gluten-free,” “keto-friendly” and “a good source of fiber” don’t answer the fundamental question: Is this food good for me There is little reliable guidance available for people who don’t have the time, patience or skill to analyze the nutrition labels (标签).
根据第四段“After Chile adopted several rules in 2016, researchers found that the consumption of drinks high in sugar and sodium declined by nearly 25 percent. In Uruguay a survey published in 2020 assessing the early effects of nutritional warnings found that 58 percent of participants who noticed the warning changed their decisions about buying a product. Of those who changed their decisions, 17 percent said they chose a similar product with fewer warnings, and 18 percent decided not to buy a similar product at all.
根据画线词的上文“They are arguing that these plans would be costly and that those costs would be passed on to consumers. But research conducted soon after Chile’s food labeling and advertising law passed showed no effects on total employment
作者在文中列举了其他国家实施食品警告标签取得的积极效果,并在最后一段中“But knowable front-of-package labeling is one of the best levers (杠杆) available to policymakers, and it is already working elsewhere. It can work here, too.
根据第一段中“Traditionally, conservators restore paintings by recreating the artwork’s exact colors to fill in the damage, one spot at a time. Even with the help of X-ray imaging and coloring analyses, several parts of the expensive process, such as the cleaning and restoring, are done by hand.( 传统上,修复人员通过重现艺术品的确切颜色来填补损坏,一次一个地方来修复画作。
根据第二段中“Based on this version, Kachkine’s new software creates a digital map of the retouches (修复点) with exact colors, necessary to fill the gaps present in the painting today.( 基于这个版本,Kachkine的新软件用精确的颜色创建了一个数字地图,填补了今天绘画中存在的空白。)”
根据第四段中“The retouches were generated by matching the surrounding color, copying similar patterns visible elsewhere in the painting or the artist’s style in other paintings.( 这些修饰是通过匹配周围的颜色、复制画作中其他地方可见的类似图案或艺术家在其他画作中的风格来产生的。)”
根据文章大意以及第二段中“That’s where Alex Kachkine comes in. The MIT student has developed a way to apply digital restorations onto a damaged painting. In short, the approach involves using pre-existing AI tools to create a digital version of what the freshly painted artwork would have looked like.( 这就是Alex Kachkine的用武之地。

Delighted to hear that you’re coming to my hometown this summer holiday, I am writing to share some famous places of interest for you to visit, such as Mount Lu, Sanqingshan and Poyang Lake.
Take Mount Lu for example. It is located in the southern part of Jiujiang City and on the bank of Poyang Lake. It is one of China's most famous mountains , covering an area of 300 square kilometers. It was included in the UNESCO world heritage list in 1996. There you will see splendid peaks, unique waterfalls, and historical sites as well as a changing sea of clouds and a warm and comfortable climate.
I'm sure you'll have a good time. Looking forward to your early reply.
Yours,

Robert was fast sinking. It seemed as if Robert would be drowned. Just at the moment, Henry happened to be passing by. Hearing the screams, Henry ran to the riverside, threw off his clothes and jumped into the water without hesitation. He reached Robert just as he was sinking the last time. By great effort, and with much danger to himself, he brought Robert to the shore.
Thus, Robert’s life was saved. Robert and his new friends were ashamed at having called Henry a coward. They realized that Henry had true courage. They said sorry to Henry for their rude behavior and asked for his forgiveness. Henry forgave them happily. He and Robert were friends again and they went home together as usual. From this, Robert learned what true courage was: never be afraid to do good, but always fear to do evil.

4 Colleges With Four-Year On-Campus-Living Policies
Many colleges require first-year students to live on campus, and some even have strict four-year on-campus living rules. Of course, there are exceptions for off-campus living, such as married students, parents, daily commuters, or those who meet specific age or status requirements.
Franklin & Marshall College
As one of America’s oldest colleges, it places first- year students in three college houses: Ware, Bonchek, and Brooks. Each house has a resident director and teacher advisor living on-site to actively support students’ academic progress and personal growth. Student leaders organize regular social activities like pizza nights, study groups, and chats with graduates. Upperclassmen get housing through a draw system, choosing from apartments, wellness-themed dorms, or group housing options.
Ohio Wesleyan University
It has five residence halls (mostly mixed-gender) equipped with study rooms, shared kitchens, and laundry facilities. Students can join themed communities within residence halls, such as gaming, food lovers, or adventure. Freshmen are assigned roommates randomly, while upperclassmen can pick on-campus houses, apartments, or the newly built Bradford Milligan Hall specially for seniors.
Susquehanna University
All on-campus students must have meal plans, except upperclassmen living in certain townhouses. First-years stay in five main dorms; returning students can choose themed housing, standard dorms, or suite-style rooms. A beloved long-held tradition: seniors hike Mahanoy Mountain with the college president before graduation, a custom dating back to the 1800s.
Vanderbilt University
In Nashville, it has 31 residence halls and 18 dining spots across campus. First-years live in 10 houses with teacher advisors living on-site, enjoying activities like game nights and group discussions. The annual Commons Cup lets freshmen compete in studies, sports, and campus involvement. Upperclassmen may live off-campus if housing is full or they meet exception criteria.

I was born and raised on the Gold Coast by a single parent, my incredible mother, Christine. Mum always placed a lot of emphasis on higher education and I was educated from a young age to enter university.
Unfortunately for Mum, the thing that I had a special love for was cooking — not what she would have chosen for me. Knowing how hard restaurant work is, she wasn’t pleased with my idea. To keep my options open, I decided to apply for university but also cook throughout my studies with a part-time job. However, it wasn’t long before I found I was stuck in studying something not appealing to me, and this part-time work became my thing. I made the tough decision to quit my university major after graduation, switching to pursue a career in the kitchen. Although she wasn’t favorable with my choice, Mum has since been an incredible supporter.
Soon, I fell back into old patterns working in kitchens but feeling unfulfilled. Then, social media changed everything. As an early user, I poured my creativity into the platform, discovering a talent for photography and storytelling. Soon, my audience grew to 200,000 followers. Recognizing the opportunity, I quit my job to pursue travel photography and social media full-time.
I traveled 50 trips a year at my peak while expanding into consulting, public speaking, and project management. I created social media content, photography and campaign reports. As a pioneer in Australia’s influencer market, my services became highly sought-after.
I established a travel account, teaching others to build careers in the industry, and launched an online photography course for beginners. Next year, I’ll lead my first photography tour in Zimbabwe, my partner’s homeland, combining my passions with conservation and community support. My journey has been challenging yet deeply fulfilling. Making money is no longer the main driver — instead, I seek meaningful experiences and opportunities to inspire others. What began as a small idea has grown into a life of adventure, creativity and purpose.

Whether you shop for food in a traditional grocery store or a big-box store, most of your options are junk foods. Terms on food packaging like “low fat,” “gluten-free,” “keto-friendly” and “a good source of fiber” don’t answer the fundamental question: Is this food good for me There is little reliable guidance available for people who don’t have the time, patience or skill to analyze the nutrition labels.
But what we really need is a bold (大胆的) move that would be to prevent people from food that’s bad for them: a warning sign that a high-sugar soda or breakfast cereal product, for example, is an unhealthy choice.
Chile, Mexico, Brazil and dozens of other countries have worked to change food labeling. Research has suggested that these labels can help people understand nutritional quality and change their purchasing habits. Finally, the goal of the labels is to improve nutrition and reduce the consumption of over-processed foods.
After Chile adopted several rules in 2016, researchers found that the consumption of drinks high in sugar and sodium declined by nearly 25 percent.
In the United States, new labeling laws will be much more challenging to take effect. As you might expect, food producers will surely try to stop warning labels from being required. They are arguing that these plans would be costly and that those costs would be passed on to consumers. But research conducted soon after Chile’s food labeling and advertising law passed showed no effects on total employment and negligible effects on wages and profit, even as consumer consumption of unhealthy foods declined.
To be clear, this is just one of many steps toward providing all Americans with a healthy diet. But knowable front-of-package labeling is one of the best levers (杠杆) available to policymakers, and it is already working elsewhere. It can work here, too.

C. Over-processed foods consumption has been stopped.
D. Warning labels effectively change people’s buying behavior.
30. What does the underlined word “negligible” mean in paragraph 5
A. Obvious. B. Lasting. C. Insignificant. D. Huge.
31. What’s the author’s attitude towards adopting warning labels in the United States
A. Unclear. B. Opposing. C. Doubtful. D. Supportive.

In a contest for jobs requiring the most patience, art restoration might take first place. Traditionally, conservators restore paintings by recreating the artwork’s exact colors to fill in the damage, one spot at a time. Even with the help of X-ray imaging and coloring analyses, several parts of the expensive process, such as the cleaning and restoring, are done by hand. Meanwhile, direct restoring might devalue the painter’s original vision.
That’s where Alex Kachkine comes in. The MIT student has developed a way to apply digital restorations onto a damaged painting. In short, the approach involves using pre-existing AI tools to create a digital version of what the freshly painted artwork would have looked like. Based on this version, Kachkine’s new software creates a digital map of the retouches (修复点) with exact colors, necessary to fill the gaps present in the painting today.
The digital map is then printed onto two layers of thin, transparent (透明的) film — one with colored retouches and one with the same pattern in white. The film with two layers forms a mask. This mask is attached to the painting to position the retouches, which helps achieve a faithful restoration in just hours — instead of months of work.
Kachkine demonstrated the approach on a 15th-century oil painting in need of restoration, by a Dutch artist whose name is now unknown. The retouches were generated by matching the surrounding color, copying similar patterns visible elsewhere in the painting or the artist’s style in other paintings. Overall, the painting’s 5,612 damaged regions were filled with 57, 314 different colors in 3.5 hours — 66 hours faster than traditional methods would have likely taken.
The new process still poses concerns, such as whether the applied film disturbs the viewing experience or whether AI-generated corrections to the painting are accurate. Still, Kachkine says this technique could help address the large number of damaged artworks that live in storage rooms, enabling the restoration of countless damaged paintings considered not deserving of high conservation budgets.
32. What can we know about traditional art restoration
A. It causes more damage. B. It consumes more labor.
C. It lacks technical assistance. D. It adds the value of an artwork.
33. What can Kachkine’s new software do
A. Decorate the damaged paintings. B. Create a vivid copy of the painting.
C. Make a map of colored retouches. D. Promote the application of AI tools.
34. How were the retouches of 15th-century oil painting achieved
A. By applying extra colors.
B. By referring to other painters’ works.
C. By learning from traditional methods.
D. By studying the artist’s painting techniques.
35. Which of the following is a suitable title for the text
A. How AI Influences Our Future
B. A New Brush for Art Restoration
C. When Restoration Meets Tight Budgets
D. A Rising Conservator of Ancient Paintings

Every spring, hundreds of thousands of birds leave their winter habitat on Lake Poyang in China, and fly north to reach their breeding grounds (繁殖地) in Siberia. 36 Grass-eating birds, like geese, follow fresh, green grass that appears as the season unfolds and the geese move northwards. The period when the young, spring grass is at its most nutritious can last as short as three weeks.
37 Geese can only eat when they arrive in the right place at the right time, but climate change has disturbed when and how long this seasonal food source is available. If birds cannot refuel their energy stores during the long-distance journey, they’ ll risk their ability to breed successfully when they reach their destination.
Fortunately, researchers discovered other food sources on their journey. These birds stopped over in the Northeast China Plain before heading to Siberia. Vast wetlands were once common here, preparing them for the rest of their journey. Nowadays, the loss of wetlands has expanded and most have been used to grow rice, corn and soybeans. 38
In the Northeast China Plain, these birds eat seeds left over after harvesting. Farmland seeds will become more important as natural habitats decline. Mechanized (机械化的) harvests, which tend to leave more seeds in the field, could provide more food for birds. 39 Then the birds can take advantage of both wetland and farmland ecosystems, ensuring their survival.
If healthy wetlands accompany farmland, birds can eat wild plants when farmers sow their crops. 40 Seeing birds as part of the landscape and not as intruders (入侵者) on farmland, can help preserve this biodiversity on the wing.
A. Birds can still find enough food.
B. But the protection of wetlands remains crucial.
C. Some birds can stay over a month in this area.
D. This will reduce their impact on crop production.
E. Such a fine-tuned strategy can become a disadvantage.
F. This forced the birds to use agricultural land as a source of food.
G. These birds must make use of food that is only available seasonally.

Robert and Henry were two friends in the same class. They always played together and went home together. One day Robert and Henry were going home from school, when,on turning a corner, Robert cried out, “A fight! Let's go and see!”
“No,” said Henry. “Let us go quietly home and not meddle with(插手)this quarrel. We have nothing to do with it and may get into mischief (trouble). Also our parents are expecting to have dinner with us together at home and I don't want them to worry about me.”
“You are a coward, and afraid to go," said Robert, and off he ran. Henry went straight home, and in the afternoon went to school as usual.
But Robert had told all the boys that Henry was a coward, and they laughed at him a great deal. From then on, they looked down upon Henry and didn't want to play with him together.
Henry was sad but he wasn't angry with Robert for his rude behavior, because he learned that true courage is shown most in bearing misunderstanding when it was not deserved, and that he ought to be afraid of nothing but doing wrong. Thus, he just ignored the other boys' laughter and continued to go to school and study as well. However, Robert didn't invite Henry to go home with him anymore. Instead, he had some other boys who also thought Henry was a coward. Every day after school, they didn't go home directly but went to the river or somewhere to play games and had a lot of fun.
A few days later, Robert was bathing with his new friends in a river, and got out of his depth. He struggled, and screamed for help, but all in vain. The boys who had called Henry a coward got out of the water as fast as they could, but they did not even try to help him.注意:
