One possible version:
My dear classmates,
I’m so excited to stand here and share my experience of the first day at high school with you. On the first day, I met many new friends who were very friendly and outgoing. They invited me to play football on the playground. All of my teachers were kind and helpful, which made me expect more from my school life. I deeply believe that high school will be a very important period of my life. I will study hard to get good grades and fight for my dream of going to university.

【原文】W: Good afternoon, sir. Do you know a good translation of Tolstoy’s War and Peace
M: So this is a science library, novels are in the south campus library. You can ask Mr. Johnson about the translation. His office is in Building H.
W: OK, thank you.
2.B
【原文】W: I am heading towards you and will be there in half an hour.
M: Take your time! It’s only 7:45 now. We will be on time as long as we leave my place before 8:30.
3.B
【原文】M: Would you like to see a menu
W: No, I’m in a hurry. I already know what I want to order.
4.A
【原文】W: You don’t sound very happy, Eric. Are you okay
M: I am a bit sad. Though my new classmates are very polite, they don’t talk to me much. It seems like there is some kind of barrier between us.
W: That’s hard ... Hopefully they will be more open as they get to know you more.
5.B
【原文】M: When do you leave for Florida
W: My plane leaves tomorrow at sunset.
M: You’re so lucky! I don’t have any money to go on vacation.
W: Well, I’ll be sure to get you something when I’m at the beach.
6.C 7.A
【原文】W: Will David go with us for the picnic
M: He cut his arm last night.
W: Is he all right
M: He’s OK. But I don’t think he’ll go with us.
W: What a shame. This picnic is what he’s looking for.
M: Don’t tell me you want to change the date for him
W: No, but I think we should ask him again.

M: Oh yes. And what about the neighbors
W: I’ve just met one girl around my age so far. She seemed very friendly.
M: It must be a change for you, living in the city now.

M: Well, it’s not too far on foot, no, but I see you have quite a bit of luggage there. It could take ten minutes to walk from here, so I think you’d be best using public transportation to be honest. There isn’t a subway station near here, but there’s the number fifteen bus that stops across the street and the train station is just two or three stops down.
W: Oh really Well, how frequent are the buses I mean, will I have to wait long
M: Let’s see. Well, the last number fifteen came by about five minutes ago, and they’re quite frequent. I mean, they come by every eight minutes or so.

W: Welcome to the Fiddy Working Heritage Farm. This open-air museum gives you the experience of agriculture in the English countryside at the end of the nineteenth century. So you’ll see a typical farm of that period, and like me, all the staff are dressed in clothes of that time.
I must give you some advice and safety tips before we go any further. As it’s a working farm, please don’t frighten or injure the animals. We have a lot here, and many of them are now quite rare. And do stay at a safe distance from the tools: some of them have sharp points which can be pretty dangerous, so please don’t touch them. We don’t want any accidents, do we The ground is not flat, and I’m glad to see you’re all wearing sports shoes.
Now, children of all ages are very welcome here, and usually even very young children love the ducks and sheep, so do bring them along next time you come. I don’t think any of you have brought dogs with you, but in case you have, I’m afraid they’ll have to stay in the car park.

Since the age of 16, Amanda Munz has been in the world of fashion with her schooling and internships (实习期).
However, when it came near the time for her to graduate, she had a sudden idea at an internship that she wanted to create a non-profit (非营利的) organization in the fashion industry.
With her experience, she started to notice that there was a lot of waste with designers overproducing products that weren’t being used.
“We overproduce in fashion; there are always extra products no matter what company you go to,” said Munz. “Clothes are lying around their showrooms and nobody knows what to do with them.”
Munz wanted to find a good use for the designers’ clothes and sell them at a lower price to anyone who wants to buy them.
She turned her dream into a reality when she received her Master’s Degree in Public Administration at Baruch College, where she learned the basics of starting a non-profit organization. In 2014, she created The Fashion Foundation. She started small collecting clothes from her friends and family for her online shop.
Her first big partner was a designer who she found through a networking event. The designer offered Munz some unwanted products for free. From there it continued to grow and now Munz has over 140 designers helping with her business.
Munz knew that with the money collected from her sales, she wanted to give back, so she did some research and found that some kids in New York needed school supplies (用品).
“It’s so basic, but a lot of schools don’t have it,” said Munz. “It was at the moment that I realized I could do something for them.”
Munz is excited to continue her dream working with different designers towards a great cause that can help students get school supplies while at the same time, having people buy a piece of clothing they might have not been able to afford.

High school students perform better on tests if they are in a classroom with a view of a green space, instead of a windowless room or a room with a view of built-up space, according to research from the University of Illinois Department of Landscape Architecture.
“It is the first to show a relationship between studying with a green view and students’ performance,” said William Sullivan, head of the research team. “It’s a significant finding that if you have a green view outside your window, you’ll do better on tests.” Sullivan hopes the results of their research will lead to policy (政策) changes. Changes in school design, for example, “would be a much better thing than any of the things we spend money on in secondary education today,” Sullivan said.
The research included 94 students at five central Illinois high schools. Students were randomly assigned (随机分配) to one of three kinds of classrooms — windowless, with a window looking out onto built-up space, or with a window looking out onto green space. Each kind of classroom had a similar size and layout. The students took part in one-on-one experiments in which they did 30 minutes of activities that included a proofreading exercise, a speech and a math exercise. Following the activities, the students were given an attention test which asked them to repeat some numbers.
The findings: Students did better on both study activities and the attention test if they were in a classroom with a green view, Sullivan said.
The researchers suggest their findings can help planners and policymakers improve students’ well-being and learning. For example, planners can choose places for new schools that already have trees and other vegetation, or they can plant many trees in this place; architects (建筑师) can design classroom, dining room and hallway windows so they look onto green spaces.

A. They like to have green plants in their classrooms.

A. Traditional. B. Important. C. Necessary. D. Early.
34. What is paragraph 3 mainly about
A. How the study was carried out. B. Why the study was different.
C. The purpose of the study. D. The result of the study.
35. What do the researchers think of the study
A. It has drawn public attention to education.
B. It can play a guiding role in school planning.

Everyone is born into a family, but not everyone gets a healthy one. Why is family important What kind of impact does it have on a person in their childhood and as a grown-up Here are four reasons why family is important:
1. Families set the stage for future relationships.
The very first relationships a child has are with their parents and any siblings (兄弟姐妹). 36 It’s often not a decision they are aware of, but people often choose partners and friends based on how similar they are to their family.
2. During hard times, people need a family they can depend on.
37 This can be emotional or financial (情感的或金钱的) support. Someone going through hard times will turn to their family if they trust them to provide encouragement and love.
3. Quality time with family is connected to better academic performance.
Columbia University did a series of studies on family dinner time. One study showed that kids who ate dinner with their family less than three times were twice as likely to get Cs or below in school. 38 Of course, there are other things at play, but families that value dinners together likely value other positive family communications.
4. 39
Families are the first place where children learn how to manage their emotions and communicate with others. Parents are responsible for guiding their children and providing life lessons that will be remembered for years to come. 40
A. Families teach important life lessons.
B. When life gets hard, people need support.
C. When families are strong, communities are strong.
D. These lessons form a big part of a person’s worldview.
E. Family relationships are connected to a person’s health.
