A brief introduction of Tu Youyou
She discovered artemisinin (青蒿素)
She is the first Chinese Nobel winner in Physiology or Medicine and the first female citizen of China to receive a Nobel Prize in any category. Tu discovered artemisinin, which was inspired by traditional Chinese medicine. The drug she developed has lowered malaria (疟疾) deaths and has become a leader in fighting the mosquito-borne (蚊传播的) disease.
